I'm a little more than halfway through this book, and totally engrossed, but I wanted to warn my buddies here that

***spoiler (although I'll leave it undetailed!)***

***m/c mentioned***

There is a very graphic description of a m/c.

If anyone has any specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them, but I don't want to spoil the book for anyone who wants to read it, so I'll answer in separate posts, if any questions are asked about circumstances or page numbers, etc. HTH....

Really, it has graphic description of miscarriage?
Makes me even more interested to read it... I always think it is very bold when authors try to describe something like that, and wonder if they will do it in a convincing, true-to-life kind of way.

It was convincing and true-to-life and it was very graphic.

***spoiler and m/c / stillbirth mentioned***

It's told from the POV of the maid taking care of the woman who has a late m/c /stillbirth (5 months -- at that time, probably not viable even with hospital care, is my guess, so sort of between m/c and stillbirth). So she's not talking about the pain or emotion of going through the m/c, but she is describing what she's seeing and experiencing, as she realizes over a short span what's happening, and as the woman is hemorrhaging. It was well-written, but very difficult to read, and I'd imagine, much more difficult if it bore any resemblance to your own m/c experience.
