I just was told by dr that I may be predisposed to clotting condition and that if & when I get prg I may need to take baby aspirin. Has anyone experienced this??? Please share.

I have a clotting disorder and I have to take baby aspirin and heparin injections. are you on any other medicine?

I have had 3 miscarriages myself and I think its sad that they make you usually wait until you have 3 to do any testing, but when I was pg in June2002 they got to do some testing before I miscarried, and thats when They confirmed that I had Factor V Leiden Mutation which is a blood clotting disorder. So if you ever want to talk feel free to email me k_bealmear74@msn.com

I have been taking a baby aspirin daily since finding out I may be predisposed to a clotting disorder too. My dr. (and a lot of what I have read since then) suggests taking it throughout my cycle prior to and during pregnancy, and taking me off it toward the end of the 3rd trimester so it doesn't interfere with an epidural. I am glad that we know about it now, so maybe we can minimize the chances for another m/c. Beth

Hello there!

Well, I just had my follow-up appointment after m/c and they are testing me for this also. She said they test the Lupus Antiquagulants (I know that my spelling is NOT right) and they are testing cardio lipids, thyroid, and I didn't know what the last thing written down there was. They took 4 tubes of blood and I will have the results in about 2 weeks. She said if the tests are positive, I will be placed on a baby aspirin a day and that would be enough to help. So I am just waiting for my first AF and then she gave us the go-ahead to start trying again. So I am lurking here to see what all is going on and hoping to learn something. If you find anything else out about this disorder, please post it!!! Have a good day!

hi, i'm new on this web site, i had a m/c and now actively trying, i also have to take baby asa and a shot called lovenox, my doc said after a m/c he wants asa and the shot, but if you knew about the clotting problem and did not have a m/c, he then would only put the women on asa, (this is my fertility md). i started asa now before my cycle and then 1 day after insemination/ovulation, then i start my lovenox shot. this goes on for 12 wks. but if i don't conceive- of course i would stop the shot.

i'd rather keep giving myself the shot :) lots of luck to you.

hello there!

i had 1 m/c and after that my fertility md said he would do some blood tests- yes, i had 4 vials drawn too. they tested me for the same things as you. the only 1 that came back positive was the antiphospholipid antibody. this had something to do w/ protein, fighting infection- immune system stuff ?, and the prevention of clotting,

there also is the testing of chromosones, but after 2 m/c they usually start testing for that due to the expense involved.

if you read this info on the internet; my fertility nurse said i'll go crazy- it goes from 1 extreme to the next.

i have to take asa and lovenox- almost the same as heparin injections. i started taking the asa before my period, and continue on during the cycle. i guess the day i start the injection is the day of or the day after my insemination/ovulation and continue that for 12 wks.

good luck to you, from 1 pin cushion to the other :)

Hello! I will get my results from my blood work this Tuesday and I am anxiously awaiting the results. If I need to start this treatment, let's get the ball on a roll!!! Thank you for the info, so that at least if she tells me they were positive, I know what to expect! Good luck and Baby Dust to you~*~*~*~*~ Lynnie

Hi iwant2bmom and everyone,

I'm writing to ask how the medicines are working? Is everything working out ok? I'm trying to learn more about heparin and APA and autoimmune disorder.

I've had 2 m/c, one at 40 (conceived naturally), one at 42 (ivf) so finally getting testing. I'm having APA, lupus, hypercoag panel blood draws.

When is heparin injected? Has anyone done this? Is it continued throughout pregnancy?

Remember hope and compassion. Compassion to oneself. HOPE AND FAITH!

Peace,

Elizabeth

I don't have apa (have ana) but wanted to let you know that rialab.com has alot of good info on this topic and fertility friend has a bulletin board circle for autoimmune issues that I have found to be very informative too. Hope you get your BFP soon! Beth
