Cycle out of whack ...

hi all, wondering if anyone can give advice. Hope this is not TMI!!

Had 2 miscarriages last year, one at 12 weeks (May) & one at 5 weeks (Aug). Before this I had 2 healthy & normal pregnancies. By Dec 2010 my cycle had pretty much settled back into the normal 30-32 days.

Since Jan though, my cycles have suddenly dropped to 27 days, with AF turning up at times like 11am & 6pm on days when I was absolutely not expecting it! - totally unheard of for me - I'm pretty regular, usually know when AF is on the way (cramps etc) and AF has ALWAYS begun first thing out of bed in the morning. Sorry if this is TMI ... but I just have a feeling something is outta whack and wonder what! We haven't been actively trying for a no. 3 as I wanted to get my thyroid levels sorted. These whacky cycles started BEFORE I went on a very low dose for underactive thyroid at the end of Feb so I can't put it down to the meds.

Any ideas anyone? I'm kinda troubled bec I know a shorter cycle could mean a shorter LP which I understand doesn't help our chances of conceiving. Also I'm 40 this year ... so we're kinda at the wrong end of the time scale! Could this be early onset menopause? I have no other symptoms tho - no hot flushes etc!

Thanks for any advice you gals can give!

Tx for the advice! I haven't really tried temping b4 - the last time I was ready to try we got pg before I could start (but ended in m/c). And I somehow managed to lost the thermometer from a kit I bought! Anyways ... maybe I will give it a try, it makes sense to have a record just in case something is wrong. I did go for a blood test for thyroid levels about a month ago now and on a whim asked them to test for progesterone as well, since apparently low progesterone can also be a cause of underactive thyroid - but prog levels came back as normal.

So confused, have just 'felt' that something is not quite right since about Jan ... but tx, maybe this is the best plan of action.

Can you temperature chart? Perhaps ovulation has moved up a few days (not sure why, but anything can happen!) but if you temp chart for a couple cycles, you could find out when you are ovulating and determine if you have a long enough LP. Perhaps if you chart for a couple cycles (since you're not TTC yet, it might be some good ammunition for when you DO start TTC and you can present your charts to your doctor and see if he/she sees anything amiss, so you aren't starting off TTC for several months before seeing the doctor if things don't work out. Does that make sense? If you find after 2-3 months of charting that your LP is too short, then you have a reason to go to your doctor and show that and ask for bloodwork right off the bat when you DO start TTC to see if your progesterone levels are too low. You could also talk to your OB/GYN and get started with testing your FSH levels and whatnot. Ask them to test you because you are concerned about the sudden change in your cycles. Perhaps then it would be seen as concern over hormones unrelated to TTC, but rather for menstrual changes (for insurance purposes, if your insurance is picky about infertility testing) and then you'd be ahead of the game when you DO decide to TTC.

Those are just MY thoughts on the situation. :)
