I am so sorry for your loss. I also found that the D&C made it easier because there wasn't anything to physically heal from. In answer to your questions, because they dilate your cervix, your uterus is a little exposed until the swelling and healing happens. I was told no sex, suppositories, anything in the vagina for two weeks. I was also advised not to TTC for three cycles. Sure lots of women get pg right away, but my Drs (RE and OB) said that the uterus needs a rest so that a repeat m/c is less likely.

GL to you.

Karri - We were out of town on a camping trip (no internet access in that neck of the woods), so I missed your post on PAL.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

As for how long to wait after D&C to have intercourse, my stupid doctor I was seeing at the time told us a few days post-D&C that we could start back up again anytime. My DH and I thought it would be wise to at least wait until all bleeding stopped (if blood is coming out, my cervix must still be open, even a little bit, which can lead to infection, if anything foreign got in there). Thankfully we DID wait because 3 weeks later, I was still pretty dilated and bleeding because there was still POC left. We did wait until all bleeding had stopped. I can't remember if we waited until after my first AF or not (which happened 2 weeks after I stopped bleeding post-D&C).

As for when we were told to wait to TTC, we were told we could start TTC again even before AF arrived, but it was recommended that we wait until after my first AF.

I hope that you heal up quick and you're back to being pg again soon!

I am so sorry that you are back here. I had an ectopic and had the MX shot instead of a D&C. I wish I could give you some advise. I really didn't like the MX shot and would have preferred the D&C if I was given the option. I hope you get your sticky BFP soon.

I got a little info sheet after my D&C that said no sex, no exercise until the bleeding stopped, or after my 2 week follow up appointment.

On TTC - totally agree with Court. Basically my doctor said, for dating purposes, it's easier if I waited until I got AF to start TTC again. We ended up waiting the cycle just b/c I was not emotionally ready to TTC again in May.

GL. Hope your stay here is a short one!

Oh no... I am so sorry you are rejoining us here chica (((hugs))).

I was told to refrain from sex until after the bleeding stopped. The general consensus is to wait until your next period to start the ttc process, but honestly that is more for dating purposes. If you are otherwise healthy there is no real medical reason to wait any longer than that.

Fx that you get your bfp soon chica!
