Hello, new here and have some questions

Hello everyone! I am new here and have a few questions. Here's my story...a bit long...

I am 36, DH is 32. We began TTC #1 in Sept 2009. We got pregnant in 6 cycles (Feb 2010) and were on cloud 9! When I went for my first appt. (at 8 weeks) with the OB/GYN, she just confirmed the pregnancy with a urine test and a pelvic exam. I scheduled my 1st ultrasound at 12 weeks. When she was starting the ultrasound, I immediately knew something was wrong (actually, I think I knew something was going to be wrong on the way to the appt., mother's intuition??). The tech asked me if I was sure I was 12 weeks and I told her I was 100% positive. As a TTC'er, we KNOW our dates!!! She told me she was getting the Dr. to do a transvaginal ultrasound. So, the Dr. confirmed that I had a miscarriage. I had no spotting, bleeding, cramping at all and had sore boobs, fatigue, etc. So, I went home numb, confused, sad... I had to search for what happened to me on the internet and I came across the missed miscarriage diagnosis which seemed to be what was happening to me. The next day after the ultrasound, I miscarried naturally. I was bleeding and cramping so bad I had to go to the ER. The days following my miscarriage was sad and dark, but today I can say I am filled with hope and the belief that I WILL be a mommy. :)

So, after the miscarriage, we waited for 1 period and then started to try again (Dr. was ok with this). We started in May, so far no luck. Now here we, Sept 2010, one year later. I decided to go to a RE to get some answers and not waste any more time as my age is against me (turning 37 in Nov).

I got blood work done on CD8 and my levels were normal. On CD12, they did a transvaginal ultrasound and saw a dominant follicle measuring 17mm, My lining was 10. On CD14, my follicle was 20mm and my lining was 12. My blood work at CD14 showed that I was going to ovulate very soon and the RE nurse told me to BD Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon.

I tired to temp this month too and I am just not sure if my temps are accurate. Looking at other charts, it seems that my temps are so erratic and look like some anovulatory charts on FF. Can someone take a look and let me know what you think??? I am new to temping and just want to make sure if it looks like an ovulatory cycle... Thanks for your help ladies. I have been stalking these boards for a few months now and love how helpful and caring you ladies are! It's very encouraging for people to come here and ask questions!! :)

Hi, there...I am so sorry for your loss and please know that you are in the right place. If you have been lurking any amount of time, you know that this is a wonderful place of support and caring from women who know EXACTLY how you feel.

I took a look at your chart and I do think you will O SOON like today or tomorrow but I don't think based on your temps that you've O quite yet.

Just as an FYI, I assume your temp orally and I can tell you for SURE that temping vaginally (not nearly as gross as it sounds - I promise) will give you much more consistent temping and seeing a thermal shift is much easier that way.

I have attached a one of my oral charts as opposed to a vaginal one. You can tell right away - especially in the first phase of my cycle how much more consistent they are. This is a much better way to temp for women who have erractic temps.

Thanks Michelle!!!!! Now I think I am REALLY doing something wrong because ... sigh ... I am temping vaginally. Maybe I am not inserting it right??? Sorry if this is TMI, but I put the thermometer in up to the digital window. I close my legs and am slightly turned to the side when I push the button to start. I try to take the temps at 5:30 AM and I will admit that there are maybe 2-3 temps that are maybe an hour or two before 5:30 AM (had to go to the bathroom so bad so I figured I'd just take the temp since I was getting up). I did take my temp at like 8:30 this morning (when I woke up again after I temped at 3:30, was one of the temps before 5:30...had to pee!!!!) and it was 98.50. I just wanted to see what it would be since my temp dipped again this morning. I am not sure how accurate the 98.50 temp is...

Well, I go back to the RE Friday to see if I O'd and my DH is having his SA. Another concern I have is that my cycles have been 26-27 days and if I O today (CD16) or tomorrow (CD17) that my luteal phase would be 10 or 9 days. Isn't that too short?? Why does this have to be so complicated!!!! :P

By the way, do you know how mature a follicle needs to be before O? If mine was 17mm on CD12 and grew 3mm in 2 days to 20mm on CD14, I assume today CD16 it would be 23mm? Do you know what size a follicle normally should be before O? Sorry for all the questions! LOL!

Welcome here! This board has been such a huge help to me and Im glad that it has supported and encouraged you already, too.

Im sorry about your missed miscarriage. I know how heartbreaking it is when your pregnancy ends far too soon. And then when you pass your EDD and the one-year mark.... well, it doesnt get any easier. But you sound very optimistic for the future. And now that you're seeing a specialist, you can work together with him/her and do everything you can to try to go on and have a healthy pregnancy.

As for your chart... I can only see your current cycle on your FF page, so I dont have any of your cycle history to go on. But you are correct, that your temps are kind of erratic, and there doesnt seem to be a clear ovulation pattern at this point. I would encourage you to keep temping and charting though - if you did ovulate on day 14 or 15, as the +OPKs indicated, and your temps stay elevated from now on, then FF will give you crosshairs in a couple of days. So keep at it! :)

I just wanted to peek in and say that you are not doing anything wrong :) I also temp vaginally and my temps are all over the place, BUT after O there is a small shift you can see :) Sometimes I dont have a shift and thats when I know its a month that I am out (as in no O)...

I am sure you will see a rise in the next few days. I usually always dip the day of O, so if you are like me then possibly today is O day! :)

Thanks Cheryl, Nicole and Carley for your welcomes and input!! Nicole, this is my first month temping, so I don't have other charts to compare... I am hoping I am doing this right! ;)

Carley, I looked at your chart and I feel better about mine... Thanks for sharing!! :)

Well, it looks like I had a big temp spike this morning, so I am hoping my O day was yesterday.

Thanks for your guidance ladies! I am hoping I am 1 DPO today to start the dreaded 2WW. I go back to the RE on Friday for more blood work, so I am keeping my fingers crossed this cycle!!!
