Intro & ?'s for anyone who could help

My name is Christy & I am 30 yo & mother to a DD (6/5/02). It took us nearly 2 yrs to get pg with DD. She was delivered by c/s & after a difficult recovery (we got a terrible infection), things "got back to normal". After her birth, we opted to go w/o bc b/c of how long it took to conceive her. We were very careful for the first few months, but then didn't use any other alt. b/c after that. My lmp was 1/24. I found out we were pg again on 2/4 (dating us 5 wks). I didn't have any of the symptoms like w/DD, so I was leary about it. Call it a mother's intution, or whatever, I just knew something wasn't right.

On Sat (4/5), I started spotting. By Mon (4/7), I was bleeding. U/s confirmed there was no baby, just a sac. Our doc recommended a D&E, but I refused, wanting it to happen "naturally". By that Thurs (4/10), a follow up u/s confirmed the sac was still intact & they said my cervix hadn't dialated. I was scheduled for a D&E the next afternoon. Thurs night before the D&E, I felt a gush. To make a long story short, I began m/c on my own, but it caught in my cervix. I had to be rushed to the ER in an ambulance & have an emerg D&E. I bled lightly all last week & I've finally stopped. My doc recommended we DEFINITELY wait 3 months now b/c I lost so much blood. He originally said we could try after 1 AF. So here are my questions:

How long after a D&E before I should expect AF? Do I count 3 months from the time the m/c started, the D&E was performed or after 3 cycles? I want to hold this next pg, so if we have to wait longer, we can. I don't know how I could deal with going through this again.

Does anyone have any info they could help me with this situation?

I've never gone through this before & we are really anxious to try to make DD a big sis, so any advice would be great. Success stories would also be wonderful!

Hugs to you all...you've got a great board!

You can expect AF anywhere from 4-6 weeks, That is from the D&E . I also was hemorraging and had an emergency D&C. My DR said I could TTC after 1 cycle. I guess every DR is different. Sorry for your loss, and best of luck TTC again.

I am so sorry for your loss! I'm sure that was terribly hard. I did not have a D&E or D&C. My m/c was natural, but I also bled for nearly 8 weeks, so there is a down side to doing things naturally as well! Since my experience was different from yours (my m/c was about the time your DD was born) I can't offer a lot of advice. I do know, however, that it seems every dr. gives different instructions. Mine didn't tell me to wait at all, which I assume meant it was fine to start "trying" right away! I didn't get a normal AF till Sept. which is when I began ttc. Looking back, however, I am not sure that was a "normal AF" because it came just 3 wks after the one before it! Anyway, I have heard other women say as soon as they got a normal cycle, and I have heard 3 cycles.

Sorry I can't be of any help here! But I can offer encouragement and support! Good luck and hugs!!!

Hi Christy, I'm Cristi!

I'm so sorry that you had to go through this too. It took me 9 weeks to get AF. My doctor gave me Provera to bring it on since it was taking so long. You take Provera pills for 5 days, then you start soon after you stop taking them. This was in January, and I'm still TTC. I am on Clomid now, so we'll see...

Good luck to you, Sweetheart.
