Hi. I rarely post here, but I do read a lot of the posts here everyday and rooting and praying for ladies on here to get their BFP.
I am 32 years old and will be 33 on the 17th of this month. I have a 16 month old son who was conceived on round 2 of clomid after the Dr upped my dose ton100 mg. Before my son, I has 2 consecutive miscarriages, which was devastating. My dr also diagnosed me with PCOS.
We are back to TTC our second child and this is our first month trying. Dr put me on 100mg of clomid. I never got a positive on the OPK and gave up on cycle day 21. I went in for a progesterone check on cycle day 24 and it came back at 5.2. So now I'm not even sure whether I ovulated. I'm thinking maybe I ovulated late and it might have been too early for a progesterone blood test. My dr isn't sure either, but said that if I'm not pregnant to go up to 150mg of clomid. The cycle I got pregnant with my son I was sure I ovulated either cycle day 16 or 17 and went in for the progesterone test on cycle day 21 and the result came back at a 9. But then my progesterone level was checked again when I got my BFP, it went up to 24. With my son, I never got a positive with the OPK either but the line was dark, but not as dark as the control line. Do you guys have any thoughts on my current progesterone level? Any insight would very much be appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, and another way to go to makes things cheaper but still know when the OPK is + is to use IC's until you think it's + or you're not sure and THEN use a digital. That way a box of digitals last you two, maybe even three cycles. Most of the time it's obvious when it's neg and you'll only have those instances where you're not sure a couple of times a cycle. I know a lot of people think the digitals are super expensive and if you buy them straight from the store, they are. But you can get them on Ebay for just about the same price as you pay for IC's!

Hi, sorry for your previous losses, and that the lower dose of Clmoid doesnt seem to be working for you. I know how frustrating it is to want a baby so badly... It does sound like your progesterone levels are low. Maybe you are not consistently ovulating, or maybe you are ovulating later than day 17 or 18 and they just arent checking you at the right time of the month?

As for OPKs, I find them to be incredibly furstrating and ambiguous too... unless you use the digital smiley-face ones, which can get pretty darn expensive, especially if youre testing 2-3 times a day for a week! It can be really hard to tell which line is darker than the other, and sometimes a twelve-hour gap in testing can make a huge difference. Have you also been charting your CM or using a BBT? Those are other ways that you can get clues as to whether or not you are ovulating.

If you have any other questions, please ask.

Hi, there :)

In a perfect world, we would have a blood draw (painless if we're gonna daydream) and we would get a progesterone level every day so we would know for sure that we O'd and when. But since we can't do that there is really only one clear solution to your problem.

You need to use OPK's ANDDDDDDDDDDD temp. I know a lot of people are intimidated by it but a lot of the girls here started out confused and we were able to help them get the hang of it.

Temping would help you to see if you O'd even if you never saw a + OPK.

If I had to render an opinion on this cycle based on what you've given me is that you could have O'd and not known it seeing as how you didn't get a + OPK with your son either. Women who can't 100% rely on OPK's NEED to temp if they want to have any idea at all when they O'd. You should also try tracking your CM too if you ever have any fertile cm to speak of (I don't :()

Anyway, I hope this helps and please feel free to ask all the questions you want! That's what this board is here for!
