I'm so sorry for your losses. My miscarriages were different, I saw the baby on an ultrasound with a strong heartbeat alive and well just 15 minutes before the baby "came out". With my first miscarriage, I had a D&C and the second I miscarried naturally, I would recommend the D&C over naturally any day.

Sometimes, the body just doesn't catch on that the pregnancy is not viable. I'm sorry to say but with your hcg numbers, the nurse is right, you will miscarry. I think that for peace of mind, asking for another set of hcg numbers is fine... it may help you begin to accept it. Trust me, I know how hard that is. Like I said, my first loss, the baby was fine 15 minutes earlier, I saw the baby on u/s and the heartbeat was great, I just couldn't grasp that I had miscarried, even after I saw the baby. And with my last loss, not a miscarriage, but a stillbirth in the 35th week, I had heard the baby's heartbeat within the previous 30 minutes, I had such a hard time accepting that the baby had died, I made them get 3 different u/s machines just to make sure because I just KNEW they were wrong, they weren't.

It's just not an easy thing to accept, and I'm so sorry you are going through this. You've found a great group of very supportive women here, I hope you can get the support you will need with us.

My OB told me she preferred if I had a natural m/c as well. I'll put my history below. It did take some time for my body to recognize and have the m/c on its own. My OB told me that it could happen at any point from that day or three weeks from then. It took almost about a month, just a few days before my appointment to explore other options. Each woman is different, but for me the natural m/c was also my preference. I did not have any spotting or cramping until the day before. There's no way around it...it just plain stinks. ((HUGS)). I'm so sorry you are going through this.
