Hi Sarah,

I have a similar story - one healthy child and 2 unexplained miscarriages afterward. The waiting is the worst part! Each time, I had to have a D&C, because my body just held onto the pregnancies. I worried about waiting to miscarry naturally because I wasn't sure when it would happen - at work, at 2 am on a Saturday when my husband wasn't home and there was no one to watch my daughter? I also didn't want to wait almost 3 months for it to be over. Do they have the RU 486 pill in your area? That is faster than waiting for it to happen (or not happen) on its own, but less invasive than a D&C.

The waiting is by far the worst part.

I don't have much advice because I had natural miscarriages both times, but I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I know it is especially difficult when you know beforehand that your pregnancy is not progressing as it should and you just have to wait for your body to catch up. My undestanding is that a natural miscarriage is obviously much less invasive and a little bit easier on your body from a medical perspective, so I'm sure that's why the nurse recommends you wait and see if your body miscarries on its own. I wish you the best with this difficult decision and during this tough time!
