Hello everyone! I'm new to these blogs but need to reach out for advice. I am 29 years and have been married for 2.5 years. My husband and I decided to wait a year before we started a family. And to our excitement we became pregnant for the first time in Feb 2012. We were thrilled!! Come April 2012 at 8 weeks I began spotting, which then turned into bright red bleeding. I had a viability scan which showed a baby but that afternoon I experienced intense cramps, increased flow and lots of large clots. I was having a miscarriage.
I had an internal ultrasound afterwards to confirm the miscarriage and ensure all products of conception had passed. Thankfully all necessary pieces and such had passed. My doctor indicated my body needed time to heal and get back to "normal" so we were to wait at least 3 cycles before trying again.
We waited the three cycles and got back on the baby trying wagon in August of 2012. I wasn't using any other method then an app on my phone that calculated cycles like they were "normal". As I got more information and the app was able to adjust it was determined my cycle length was 37 days.
In October of this year I began using ovulation tests to iron out my prime window. I also read The Sperm Meets Egg book. And with success I ovulated the week of thanksgiving and conceived. However the excitement was only short lived because 2 days after when my cycle would have started all my symptoms had gone completely away and I began bleeding again. You guessed it....miscarriage number 2 was taking place.
I finally decided it was a time to get my doctor involved, because we can obviously get pregnant but can't stay that way. Thankfully she wasn't a doctor who would only say its bad luck keep trying. She explained it could be the following things: 1. Thyroid issues 2. Early onset diabetes 3. An antibody issue 4. Blood clotting issue 4. Chromosamoal issues between my husband and I. 5. an issuewith my uterus that requires an mri to determine if thats it). It was determined we would take the route of having my blood drawn to hunt down the easy to test and easy to treat issue first.
The results from my blood work were all normal.
Anticardiolipin IgM - 1.91
Anticardiolipin IgG - 5.1
PTT Lupus Anticoagulant
APTT - 28
PT - 10.6
TTI ratio - 0.8
Lupus anticoagulant - 29
HEMOGLOBIN A1C - 5.1
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) - 1.91
We have now been presented with a few options: go forward with the MRI of uterus to see if there's a issue with that, chromosomal testing with my husband and I, having another pregnancy and monitoring levels early and often, or getting my progesterone levels tested at the appropriate times in my cycle.
Through what I have been reading online through other posts is it sounds like my progesterone isn't doing its part to sustain the pregnancy. So we are in between TTC again and watch the levels or test in the next cycle.
If anyone has any ideas, helpful hint it would be greatly appreciated. Especially on how not to get down over my body's lack of ability to keep our precious peanuts where they belong.
