Waiting to try after m/c and frustrated

Hello from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!

I had a m/c 4/5/03 and I was told to wait until I had two regular cycles before trying. I am going crazy. I can't imagine waiting that long. I think if I were able to try I would have something else to think about. Something to look forward to. Can anyone relate?

Thanks,

JeanMarie

I can relate. I had a D&C on April 2nd following a m/c. I was told I only had to wait one cycle so I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of AF so we can start ttc. This wait seems excruiatingly long so I can imagine having to wait two cycles would be really difficult. I'm just not a patient person and I want to get back on the saddle again so to speak. I have the same feelings like it will just be nice to have that hope and excitement again while you're ttc. Something to look forward to again.

Did your Dr. say why you had to wait two? You could always ask them if it would do any harm to start after one.

I hope your waiting time goes by quickly! Good luck!

Diane,

My doctor did not specify any reason for the 2 cycle wait. I am guessing she was just being cautious. I have another appointment soon- I think I will ask if I can try after 1 cycle. Thanks for your input. I am sending baby dust your way!!

JeanMarie,

It's interesting that we're posting about this now because my DH and I just had a discussion about it today. He told me that he's got several business trips he has to go on in May, which is when I assume we'll start ttc, and now I'm worried he's going to be gone at the "right" time. So, now I'm wondering how important it was to actually wait even one cycle. I hate to let this one go by since he's in town. We may have already missed it this month anyway so it may be a moot point. I'm considering calling my Dr. to ask her about it and see what she says although I'm sure she'll stick with her original one cycle recommendation. Oh well.

I hope your Dr. gives you the ok to try after one. Good luck!

I had a m/c Jan 21. My doctor told me that I had to wait 2 cycles before TTC. She said it takes that long for your uterus to be "ready" again to nurture a baby. She said it also ensures that all of your hormone levels are down prior to TTC again. I past my 2 cycle wait period a couple of weeks ago...I just took a HPT with unclear results...I try another HPT in a couple of days. Fingers crossed.

Hi JeanMarie,

Well, I am from Mt Pleasant, PA!!! Nice to know you! I'm 33 and I had a M/C 2 1/2 weeks ago on 4/5 along with a D&C on 4/7. Just had my Post-OP yesterday and she said that we had to wait 2 months......so I said "2 months from D&C or 2 cycles from D&C" She said, Once I get AF, That should be the 2nd month past so we don't have to wait 2 cycles, only 2 months. But every DR is different. and YES it seems as if it is going to be forever before we are able to try again. My DR said it could take anywhere from 4-8 weeks for AF to come!!!! AAAHAHHHHHH Good luck to ya and keep positive!!!

I just had a d/c yesterday. Physically I feel great - slight bleeding and cramping. I am very eager to start trying again. My Dr. said after one cycle we can. Let nature take it's course if your ovulating Go For It!

God Bless and Good Luck!

I am very sorry for your loss, I lost my angel on 3/14 (natural m/c) and got AF 4 weeks later. My dr (from NY Cornell Medical Ctr) told me that there was no MEDICAL reason that we couldn't start to try after my 1st AF. So... we're trying right now ;!

Good luck whatever you decide. Baby dust to us all!!!

P.S. It really helped me to focus on eating right and getting back to the gym, doing yoga and other things to get my body healthy, as well as my mind. Just a suggestion.

Thank you for all of your responses. I really feel as though I am not alone when I read all your messages. After my miscarriage I really thought I would just crawl up and die but I am still alive and kicking. Mostly because you ladies keep me sane and showed me the bright side of things.

I am now looking forward to trying even if it is not until June. I am thinking fertile thoughts for all of you :)
