Yeast infection question

I'm on day 15 of my cycle, right around the time when I am supposed to ovulate and I got a yeast infection :( Such a bummer. Do any of you know if it is safe to have sex when you have a yeast infection? I bought Monistat 1-day treatment today and am wondering if we should try to have sex and then use the treatment, or if I should just use the treatment right away and wait to have sex for a few days.

You run a big risk of passing it back and forth and it really can be a nightmare. I know how much it sucks but I really wouldn't. DH and I pass them back and forth all the time and it's TERRIBLE!!!

I'm not entirely sure which way you should do things. I've had a couple of YI's in the last 7-8 months and the box always said not to use a condom because the Monistat could reduce the effectiveness. So, I'm guessing that there is a chance that the yeast wouldn't kill off any sperm. BUT, we never DTD while I was using treatment because I was concerned that then it would cause a fungal infection with DH and then we'd really have to take a break from TTC so he could get better, too, otherwise we'd just pass it back and forth and that's not good either. As much as it's frustrating to you, I would treat, then wait at least a few days until you're pretty sure that the infection has passed before you DTD again. Also, I have read information saying that the Monistat 1 isn't as effective as the longer treatments (Monistat 3 is better than 1 and Monistat 7 is even more effective than 3). I always have used the Monistat 3, though, and that's worked well for me. It gets rid of the infection and I don't have to be using suppositories for an entire week. Feel better and I hope that, even if this cycle ends up being a bust for you, you can go into the next cycle knowing that you're both healthy. :)
