am i gonna get happy???

OK ladies - went to the doc today for a blood pressure check. If you will remember, my blood pressure did not regulate itself after giving birth - NORMALLY when you get preeclampsia, the symptoms dissolve within 24-48 hours after giving birth... I, however, am not normal - IMAGINE THAT!

So, after 3 months, we have found a pill combo and dosage that works for me - I am on propanolol 40mg twice a day along with a water pill once a day - it is finally working! She'll keep me on this combo/dosage for the next 3 months.

I asked her about something OTC that I could take for just a little bit to help me sleep, cuz I go for weeks with very little sleep. We talked for a little bit and she told me she would rather put me on a mild antidepressant and that it would also help me sleep. SO, I officially have my first-ever happy pills... lol... that by itself makes me kinda smile - oh well! She gave me two months worth and then wants me to come back. Hopefully they'll help.

I already felt like I was starting to come out of a "funk" it's like I can see now, it's different - kind of like I was in a fog and the fog is starting to lift and I have some visibility...

we shall see...

waiting for af... again... b!tch...

Torie I hope they help. After my 2nd mc I was diagnosed w ptsd and finally started feeling better when I got my happy pills. I was very much in a fog before that, hardly sleeping, just making it through each day. I can't even begin to tell you how much better I felt just being able to sleep finally!

Here's hoping you can finally zonk out and get a good nights rest!

I'm so glad that it seems like things are moving in the right direction for you, Torie.

I purchased my veterinary hospital the same week my DD was born. I was not only a stressed out first-time mom, but also a stressed out overworked small business owner. I also breastfed/pumped exclusively, so by the time DD was 8 months old and my periods were getting ready to start again, I was a complete hormonal stressed-out wreck. I was officially diagnosed with PPD, but honestly it was more like PMS gone wild! I was living day to day, not knowing if I'd be up, down, angry, depressed, etc. But, once I REALIZED there was a reason for why I was feeling like I was, once I put a name to what was going on, I immediately started to "come out of the funk". I started on a "happy pill", which I took for 3-4 months total, and it made a huge difference!

Like Kelly said, I'm proud of your for taking the first step and asking for help from your doctor. That's the hardest part. And I really, really, really hope that you have a similar good experience with your "happy pill". Everybody needs a little better living through chemicals sometimes! LOL!
