Bad experience with IUI but just glad it is done

First off, I am SO glad that is over. I tell you, nothing is ever easy for me when TTC. I really wish I was one of the women who does NOT have pain during the IUI. I have no idea how I am going to give birth when I do get pregnant if I am such a wimp at this. I think my body naturally tries to close up when they stick a huge medal thing inside me. They tell you to relax.... yea right.

I am going to list the ways this wasn't fun.

First off, 93 million IS rockstar sperm! And 27 million is WONDERFUL! Your standards were set by that first IUI and that standard is WAYYYYYYYYYY to high. 5 mil is minimum they like to see, 10 is good, 20 is average and anything over 20 is awesome! So do NOT feel badly about 27 mil!

Second, I cannot believe the IUI's are so hard on you...wow. Mine take a total of 5 minutes. They are in out. In fact I'm always left feeling like, wow that's it? I hardly even cramp - AF is worse for me regarding pain and cramping.

You poor thing...what a day you've had huh? :(

Aw I'm sorry Christy! But at least it's over now and hopefully it all ends with a BFP! FX for you!

I certainly hope this results in a very sticky BFP so that you don't have to go through it again.

Michelle -

Thanks for calming my fears about the sperm count. A positive side is that I might have 2 eggs instead of 1 out of the deal. I totally wish I had your experience with the IUI. I would give anything for a 5 minute pain free deal. The nurse told us to BD tonight for the fun of it. All I can say is NO WAY. I had enough trauma down there to last awhile. I know we probably SHOULD BD but I just can't.

So sorry it hurt! That's still really good sperm. I wish my DH's was as good (I think his VR only connected one of his testes). Just be glad its over and you have good odds this time. Relax and "enjoy" the 2WW.

Sorry it was so painful. But hopefully one of those 27 mil sperm caught your egg. FX for you!!!! P.s. I think that was a great number. My friend got pg with 13 mil at her IUI.

Cheryl - normal pelvic exams are not as bad as the IUI. I wonder if it is the longer speculum that makes it worse with IUI. It probably didn't help with putting it in and taking it out multiple times.
