Bloodwork question

I went and picked up my lab work results. And now have questions. I was almost pos. that I Oed that week. But my lab work came back and said my HCG is 2. 12 days ago it was 5.9. The IF DR. said he was pretty sure it would be down to zero by now. He thought he might still see pregnancy stuff in my uteris. So could I have Oed with HCG still being in my system? Could I need a d&C to get my levels to zero?

Yes I would agree this all sucks. Everytime you turn around and have to go into the dr again. But at least he gave us a plan and some hope. We will have more hope once we have some test done and results for others. We are going to see the genetics next week and if they agree we can try again with little problem we should be back to trying I am hoping Aug.

Ahhh I see. A lot of the time you will pass the remaining tissue with AF so it makes sense he would want to wait until that comes and goes. I certainly hope he doesn't have to go in and remove any more :( Like this doesn't all suck so bad already...

He doesn't do D&C. He goes in with a camera and then pulls out what he needs to and that is its. He said it is just like what the do to help with scar tissue. The second part of his sentence was after your next AF then he want to put some saline in my uterus to check for tissue if it is still showing on the ultra sound and look for scar tissue from my pregnancies. I never knew that when the placenta removes it could leave scar tissue and that is what caused my first M/C. The placenta couldn't attached fully.

I really wouldn't think you would need a D&C at all with hCG levels that low...when he said he might still see tissue, what was the other half of that sentence like? Meaning, what was his opinion on the action that needed to be taken in response to maybe seeing the tissue? Did he mention the possible need for a D&C?

No, if your HCG was over 5, you did not O. A level over 5 indicates your body still thinks it's pregnant, and you don't O when that happens.

Technically, it doesn't need to be 0, just less than 5, but if your doctor still sees tissue in your uterus, then he might want to do a D&C to make sure that everything has passed.
