CD 10 follicle check :(

So my first follicle check this morning was some good some bad – but mostly bad.

Let me start off by telling you what we would have seen in a perfect world:

8mm lining, two 18mm follicles with a few smaller ones.

Now let me tell you what we saw:

8.5mm lining (that was the “some good” part) and multiple small follicles on either side.

The Estrace is doing its job. RE said my lining was wonderful. Although (forgive my paranoia here) I listen very carefully to what he tells the nurse to write down and I know most women can’t decode the verbiage but I can! He said it was 8.5 grade C. The 8.5 is GREAT. The grade C? Not so much. Optimal is grade A. I am hoping that the uterine grade corresponds with follicle growth and how close to O you are and that it will be grade A by Thursday and hopefully be accompanied by a follicle or two.

The lack of follicles really concerns me. Not because I am worried that they are growing to slow because it really doesn’t matter if it takes them three weeks to grow as long as you have mature follicles when you trigger so if it takes them until the end of the week, so be it. I am okay with that. What concerns me is that I am not going to respond to the meds at all and that they won’t grow at all. Then we’d have to cancel this cycle all together.

This has never happened to me before. I always have at least one!

So now three more nights of injections at $65 per night and another follicle check on Thursday ($300 more dollars). I thought I’d be having an IUI on Thursday and now I’ll be lucky to have an IUI at all. :(

Oh, Chelle...I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't have great news! I'm glad the Estrace is working, but I hope that you end up growing some good follies so that this cycle (with all the money thrown around) is not a bust. (((HUGS))) Why is it that when we want our bodies to cooperate, they just don't?

Ya know, sometimes the knowledge I have really does make it worse on me. If I didn't know what to expect today, I wouldn't be so disappointed. I just can't believe that after Femara AND injectables, I could manage JUST ONE follicle. I would have been happy with one. :(

Silver lining for you: Your follies are growing slow which will give your lining a chance to catch up. Also, instead of having only one grow fast and leave the others behind, the slow growth means you'll end up with more than one mature when the time is right.
That said, I understand why you're disappointed. You're putting a lot of faith and money in this. Be calm, be patient, think healthy thoughts and wait it out.

Thanks, Chouli. I know you understand how frustrating all this follicle check/IUI BS is. I hope you're right. I hope they all grow at the same rate and that one doesn't fly in front of all the rest but I really would be grateful for one right now. Just have to do the best I can to relax and redirect my focus until Thursday.

ok, so not the best visit and not what you were hoping for, but it sounds like all is not lost. And I am really excited for you about that lining! Now you just need to focus some positivity on those follies, and you will be all set. FX for you.

No, all is not lost. Not yet anyway. Thursday will tell us more. I spent the last week wishing for today and now I am going to spend the next three days wishing for Thursday! Meanwhile, my daughter is growing like a weed while I wish my life away I'm pretty depressed today if you haven't been able to see that through my beams of sunshine.

YAY for a great lining! Sorry about your follicles not where you expected. I'm not going to give the "it'll be ok" stuff ;) I'm just going to say that I hope everything works out this cycle and it ends with your sticky BFP!
