Fibroid tumor

Hey girls... some of you do not know me, others may remember me, I still come and read updates but don't post much, I felt I needed to come share this important info though so am posting. Here is my quick story.... I had a m/c back in March of 2010 after finding myself shockingly but happily pregnant in February at 42. Me and my fiance were thrilled, he had never had children but always wanted them, my dd's are 10 and 13, we never expected or discussed having a baby, both of us just assumed that we were too old for that, well, guess what?? We weren't! Lol.... We were devastated to lose our baby though and have been trying now for 9 months to conceive again, I had done clomid for 3 cycles, got +OPK's every time, and after still no BFP we finally called and scheduled a consult with an RE to see what more we could do. That dr. recommended having an ultrasound to look at my lining and to also do an "antral follicle count", that gives a good indication as to ovarian reserve and at my age that is a huge factor. Well, we go today and guess what they found? A HUGE fibroid tumor taking up over half of my uterus and that was for sure the cause of my m/c back in March, it also is inhibiting implantation and will most likely cause another m/c if I do get another BFP. I had NO IDEA!! AF is heavy but that just happens to some women as they get older, right? I had NO other symptoms! I am going to need to have surgery to have it removed and will do that asap so I can heal and get back to TTC again. I may need to go on Lupron to help shrink the fibroid to make it easier to remove, it may take a few months to do that but the dr. said after surgery I will only have to wait one cycle to start TTC again. I had no idea this was my problem and thought it was important enough to share in case anyone else has unexplained infertility and are going to a regular OB/GYN for basic help (which I was for the last 9 months!) and have not had an u/s to have lining checked.

LaRae,

Wow! That must have been a surprise. I know my polyps were. Like you, the only symptom I had was the heavy bleeding but AF has always been heavy.

LaRae! That is WONDERFUL! I mean it's not, but you know what I mean! It's an answer! You are one of the rare women who gets to know WHY you lost your baby and why you haven't been able to get pg again! And even better yet, they can fix it! :)

Thanks Michelle, it is really good news and will help tons but my age is a huge factor as well, my FSH was 15 and I had an "antral follicle count" and my number is 9, that isn't great and the Dr. asked if we would consider donor eggs, which we are not going to go that far. However, we will get this removed and go from there, at least it will be a huge obstacle out of the way! =)
