I'm pretty sure my first cycle was anovulatory as it lasted 45 days and I never felt any O pain. We were on BD restriction for the first two weeks so after that we just resumed normally. On day 50 after, we saw the RE and she said to use contraception for the next cycle. DH and I both dislike the idea of using condoms with each other so it was never really considered. He just planned to avoid intercourse that particular week. ...........but I tricked him. The girls here on the board can tell you I seduced him and didn't admit that I was Oing. I did my research and felt like my RE was being awfully conservative. So here I am waiting to see if being sneaky can negate 2 yrs of IF and bring me a miracle.

Re: your question, I can say we just planned to have "other activities" than penetration for the O week.

I'm not going to give you the "right" answer here but just what I would do.

kinda OT here, but you know, Chelle, I've often wondered if my IF problems are because I was on bc for SO long. Starting at high doses at age 13 because of heavy flow, a two year stint on depo provera (w/ a whole host of physical side effects), and ending when I was 23 because the unnatural estrogen shot my liver temporarily.

Well, the dr's and research says no but I can totally see how you would suspect it. I mean to prevent pg for SO long and then not be able to conceive? That is not a very far leap. I know what it's like to be searching for a reason though niether of us will ever know for sure why we have so much trouble. I have often said that if they could just say to me "Michelle, your blah blah blah was broken when you ate that rotten peach that one day and you will probably never be able to conceive again." Maybe then I could make my peace with it. But as long as they keep telling me that I am in perfect reproductive health and any month could be it for me, I have to keep banging my head against this same wall. :(

I am totally with Michelle and didn't use any bc. We did stay away from actual bd for a few weeks, but honestly we didn't take any precautions otherwise. I too don't see a reason not to. Though, my MC's were both natural, and if I had a surgical procedure I might have felt differently.

We actually didn't wait to try, but I had HCG in my system for the first two cycles, so we couldn't get pregnant.

How could you tell that you still had HCG in your system? Is that common? I am a tester (mildly addicted to the dollar store pregnancy tests) and I'm worried that I could have a false positive a month or two out and get my hopes up, only to be dashed.

I'm 4 weeks post-D&C and DH & I have been using condoms. I know you said you & DH hate them. We're getting ready to do our diagnostic cycle with the RE, so I don't want to risk getting a BFP only to miscarry again due to hormonal issues (or whatever is going on with me). I am bound & determined to figure out what's wrong with me that I'm suddenly unable to stay pregnant. Anyway, the condoms kind of remind me of being younger & back in college & DH & I first started dating...kind of fun, KWIM?

We used condoms in the meantime, and a few times we just avoided my fertile days altogether instead of using protection. It worked for us because we only waited a month or two to TTC again, maybe three cycles, tops. And like you said, hormonal BCPs seem kind of pointless to use just for a couple months.

I hope you and DH figure out something that works for you. I always hated preventing pregnancy when I knew that I wanted a baby so badly!!! It can be really frustrating and disappointing to wait, but hang in there. It wont be forever.
