IVF is finally getting closer!

My IVF deam is finally around the corner. My biggest hurdle has been where to get the money from. I finally built up the gumption to ask my uncle if he can lend us some money. He has agreed to lend us $15,000 which is huge and I totally appreciate it. He asked me if this was a guarantee and how I wish I could say YES.

that is GREAT news about your uncle lending you guys the money! so generous of him. I wish there was a guarantee that this would work.

I think if it was us, we would opt for the one fresh, one frozen cycle, and then if you have more frozen embies and need them, you can worry about money for another frozen cycle then. Hopefully the fresh cycle will be your BFP in which case, eh, money well spent! FX for you Christi.

Christy- that is sooo awesome, chica! If you have a boy you definitely need to give a nod to your uncle and at least use his name as a middle name, lol!

So, I agree- 1 fresh, 1 frozen and pray for extra embies you can use later. I REALLY REALLY hope this works out for you! :)

FX chica!

Good luck Christy! I really hope your first IVF cycle results in a stick bean and you don't have to worry about a frozen cycle! So excited for you!

Yay, Christy!!

We are having to borrow money also for IVF. It sucks having to spend so much when others spend nothing!! BUT I'm still excited for both of us! When do you start BCPs?

Good luck, Christy! Absolutely no advice for you on which package you should choose. But, I can keep my fingers crossed that you will get your BFP the first time around! :)

Thanks gals!

Jamie: We will be starting the BCPs next cycle in a little less than one month. When do you take yours?

That's awesome, Christy! I'm so glad your uncle could help. My parents have been a huge support for us too. They've paid for all the initial RE testing, one of my IUIs, and now for my 6 weeks of acupuncture.
We also did a "shared risk". We went for the 2 fresh, 2 frozen. There's a company called Attain who financed most of the $18K for us.
May I give you a tiny bit of IVF advice? Take each day as it comes and be very gentle with yourself. You're going to be taking a lot of shots which will make you cranky, bloated, etc. I hyperstimulated which was painful (hope you don't!). There's also all the fear and worry. I have told people that IVF was the hardest thing I've done so far and its true. So if you work, take some days off. I wish I had relaxed more during the stim phase because I really believe it would have helped our outcome.

Chouli -

That is good to know. I just took my blood tests today and hubby still has to take his. I did get my precription filled for the BCP so I am ready when I need it. I had the fertility nurse mail me the list of drugs that I will be taking to see if I can price shop. I should get it tomorrow hopefully. I am a bit worried about all the discomfort but I agree that I have to take it day by day and not over think things. I should be between jobs during this which might be helpful.

Do you think the acupunture is worth the money? When is the ideal time to do it?

Acupuncture: I think if you have the $ to spend on it, or if your insurance covers it, that it is worth it. The sessions are so relaxing. I leave there feeling like I've been to a massage. And there are so many reports linking it and increased IVF success. Its worth trying. I suggest (and acupuncturists do too) to start at least 1 month before transfer. So around the time of starting BCPs.
