Mammogram and u/s

So, the straight-on mammograms weren't so bad at all. The side-views hurt! The skin was pulled so taught that it felt like my sternum was going to pop out of my skin when I had to lift my chin to keep it out of the field of the imaging. Ouch! But the results were great: clear images, and nothing abnormal was found on the ultrasound (which had to be done b/c the fibroid in question was just under my breast).

The doctor who saw me simply said that sometimes, breast cartilage can get inflamed and cause pain. I'm just a little bit confused, b/c the pain was so severe, and a fibroid (which the other doc I saw had suspected) does make sense. Breast fibroids are more common when hormones shift during a woman's cycle and become imbalanced. Towards the end on a cycle, the pain that they can cause dissipates as the hormones shift again. But the doctor I saw today didn't see or feel what he'd call a fibroid. I can still feel the spot, but it doesn't hurt anymore and doesn't seem to be as big. So I guess I'll just be happy with my clean bill of breast health and wait to see what the prolactin and TSH tests that my obgyn ordered show.

I'm so glad your boobs are clean!

I can safely say I have never said that to anyone else in my life! LOL

Ha ha. Thanks, Michelle! I am relieved (albeit a little confused) for sure. One thing that bugs me about "no findings" like that is the fact that I know there are so many people out there who DO have issues that should be diagnosed and treated, but don't have the resources to do so. I don't want to have problems, myself, but I always feel a little guilt when I go in for a visit or a test and find that nothing is wrong.

YOUCH!!!! I haven't had to have a mammogram yet, but not really looking forward to it. :/

I'm glad that your breast pain is dissapating and they didn't find anything suspicious.

Hope your b/w comes out fine as well.
