I am new I this board.. I have been in the TTC and March 2013 EC board.. We got pregnant on Femara. Found out on July 17th.. Had my hcg done an we wee good to go.. My best friend is an ultrasound tech (I am an X-ray tech so we get some good perks) scanned me at about 5 weeks, saw a sac and yolk, scanned me around 6.5 weeks, saw the baby and a heartbeat (measured at 6 weeks 2 days) . I went in yesterday to make sure everything was great and she said my uterus retroverted itself and she was so sorry but she couldn't find a heartbeat.. I should have been 8 weeks 1 day, and she said it measured to be about 7 weeks.. I go in tomorrow to my OB, I have had no cramping or bleeding. My question is, is there a chance that since my uterus was all of the sudden retroverted that it was hard to hear the heartbeat and measure the baby (transvaginally). I am just clinging on to lost hope I am sure.. But I had read a few things that a retroverted uterus can make it difficult. I want to make sure before talking about a D&C that there is no chance.. Sorry for the rambling .. It's been a rough weekend!

Hi there!  I am sorry to hear this!  :smileysad:

I have had 2 missed m/c's, in the last 9 months.  To where there's no cramping or bleeding, the baby's hb just stops (usually due to abnormal chromosomes).  My opinion is, that even if the the tech couldn't find a hb? the baby would still measure correctly to 8 weeks....then I would say try again to find a hb.  But, since baby is only measuring 7 weeks? Then the baby must've died withing the last few days.  When I went in June for my 1st u/s, at 8 weeks.  My dr. found no hb, but our baby was measuring correctly (and I still had pregnancy symptoms?)....so my dr. said, let's wait a week and look again, just to make sure.  Sure enough, my pregnancy symptoms stopped, the next day, so I knew then, that I lost the baby.

That would be the other 'sign' that the pregnancy isn't viable anymore....a loss of pregnancy symptoms.

If you still feel unsure, have another check, so you know you done everything possible to find out.  Hugs!

I am so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately I do not know much on retroverted uterus so I can't comment on much of your post. I just wanted to wish you the best for your dr appt and to let you know that we are here for you. Keep us posted
