My Labs Are Finally In

I had blood drawn last Friday at 13 DPO after several faint BFPs. The HCG was only 12 and progesterone only 9. So what do you ladies think of the progesterone #? The midwife did call me in a scrip for progesterone suppositories which I am not looking forward to taking but if they help then I'm all for it. She wants me to take them every day for a month or two and then cut back to stopping for AF and restarting at 4 DPO. Does this sound right? She is not an RE and I have concerns about the progesterone messing up what I already suspect to be low estrogen. The midwife said that progesterone can actually help mature the eggs before ovulation and help build up the lining. I'd never heard that before. Any feedback appreciated:)

I don't know about the progesterone vs. estrogen thing, but I do know that my RE prescribes progesterone for EVERYONE for post-O. Whether you show signs of needing it or not. Her theory is that it can't hurt anything, and it just might help. So that being the case, I guess it can't hurt to take it?

I have never heard of taking progesterone pre-O...I would get a second opinion on that.

No you aren't generally supposed to take Progesterone before O because it can keep you from O'ing but the

The midwife promised me that the progesterone would not inhibit ovulation, but that it would thicken the cervical EWCM (that I don't have anyway) up, so I am just planning on taking Mucinex and hoping the midwife is right! Of course I will do some more Google "research" and listen to you guys' feedback too.

No, no, no - I agree with you 100%. Listen to your nurses and your dr's. This is what they DO. Like I said, trust them even if sometimes it doesn't make sense to you. We're not the experts.

Ive never heard of taking Progesterone thru whole cycle.
I have heard of women taking it to start AF which is weird since I use it to stop AF. However I know its does work.

I do know that each Dr/MW who prescribed me progesterone said NOT to take it until I was sure I had O'd. It can mess up your ovulation or stop it altogether I believe. Its a hormone that is not predominant until after O so doing it before could certainly mess things up.

I take it about 3 DPO until AF shows or if no + test by 12 DPO I stop it. My RE said AF will come anyway so I dont need to stop it & usually that is the case. I just feel like by 12 DPO if Im not pregnant then bring on AF.

Also Im not quite sure I believe my RE but she did say if a pregnancy is viable Progesterone levels will be good enough to sustain pregnancy. I understand in theory but since Ive had progesterone tested & I know mine is low & I have an LPD I clearly dont make enough unless perhaps I get really lucky. She also said there is no such thing as LPD. Again, I dont really agree, but wanted to share the info.
