I am taking clomid this cycle and have 2 really good follicles and a few smaller ones. (One is a little over 1.5 and the other is 2.5) I ovulate on my own but they still want me to do the ovidrel shot. They told me if I don't see a positive opk today. I'm on cycle day 11. I have never gotten a +opk on day 11. Always on day 14. Ugh! Really, Maybe I am just pouting because I don't want to give myself a shot. I'm bruised enough from all the freaking bloodwork. :(

Yes it's necessary when you have more than one follicle. The body normally only releases one - the lead follicle. Of course it's possible to release both on your own - natural twins but I think you can tell by just how rare natural twins are how rarely that happens.
