RE/OB and Progesterone

*pregnancy/miscarriage mentioned*

Im curious how many of our Drs believe in LPD or Progesterone.
I know its common for them not to believe in it & mine doesn't.

Im stuck on Progesterone right now being a potential big issue for me. My RE gave me Progesterone but cut it in 1/2. I managed to get pregnant this month by a small miracle & its being wiped away from me at this moment.

My last chemical my Progesterone @ 12 DPO was 14. I have no idea what it was yesterday as my Dr refused to test it. It was fine w/my 2nd m/c but I was taking 400mg/day post O.

If your Dr rxs you progesterone, what is your dose?

Well, you already know my RE doesn't really believe in it and honestly, I am on the fence about it. I think low prog for sure does cause some m/c but you can't verify that by testing levels after a m/c is already threatened as a low level wouldn't tell you anything at all. Low prog in the middle of m/c are very common and could totally be explained away by the m/c. You have to have levels tested and 7 DPO and to be sure tested again at 9 DPO also. If the levels come back low then you really do need a supplements as you would have a problem staying pregnant with low levels like that. I don't think a 14 prog is bad at all, I really don't. I can speak to dosages as I was always given Crinone which is a prefilled applicator and I believe it only comes in one dose. I have never taken oral prog.

Hi Mindy...

If your doctor actually gave you a prescription for progesterone, it just boggles my mind why he wouldn't test you yesterday.

I take 200mg at night in the form of a suppository (after O is confirmed), and my LP went from 8-9 days, to 14-15 days, so I do believe in it.

I agree that you cant verify after the fact.

You think 14 is good when your pregnant? Granted I was miscarrying.

I did have Prgesterone tested prior to getting it RXd but I dont recall what my # was just that it was low thats why they gave me RX. They did not do a 3 day test, just a single test along with TSH.
ANyway, I guess thats my point I do think my Progesterone level is whack. Given prior test as well as the times Ive gotten pregnant in the last 1.5 yrs its only when using progesterone vaginally. Im thinking that not a fluke.

My cheap blankity blank insurance wont cover Crinone.

I guess thats kinda where Im going with this....thats why I was wondering what other ppls Drs say about Progesterone. I mean clearly an entire practice of REs that is in charge of ppl getting pregnant & they do get ppl pregnant can't be that wrong can they?

Technically I shouldnt be seeing an RE. My insurance is so horrid that its hard to find anyone that Im covered for, even for recurrent loss. Ill have to go back & search my options & see if I can find out info about a practices Progesterone policy b4 going. Im guessing that will be hard to do.

I think its crazy too that they wouldnt test be but I guess as MIchelle said after the fact its not going to say much.

Im not even going back for my Beta tomorrow. Im bleeding more & I know its over.

SO you've had 3 chemicals as well? Did your Drs give you any reasons why?

BTW, enjoy vacay!

DO you see an RE or an OB? Where is the practice? I think you said you're in Northern MA?

Ive asked about Clomid. My old awful ancient Dr was ready to give it to me. My new good Dr did not want to give it me. As she said I have no problem getting pregnant. My RE said if IM 'still where I am today' in 6m she would consider it. She also agrees I dont have fertility problems & doesnt take the medication lightly, regardless of the 'good egg' theory.

LOL My cheap blankity blank insurance didn't cover it either. The nurses felt sorry for me and gave me enough samples for one cycle.

Yeah I think 14 is good for a natural, unmedicated cycle. Kelly's was around 10 or 11 I think and she is well on her way to being big and pg. Kate's was also only around 12 or 13 I think and she is also doing well. In pg prog is measured a lot like hCG in that it should rise

My RE prescribed prometrium (100mg twice a day) for me. Its a vaginal suppository. Back when she tested me after the first IUI, my progesterone level was 9.5 which she said still wasn't that low, but she wanted to give me a boost.
