Well ladies, the short version is that my appointment with my OB today was GREAT. Everything I hoped for, and actually a little more.

I saw the same dr. in the practice that I saw last summer when I lost the PG.

Kelly, mom to 4 year old Lexi, wife to Rob TTC Number 2 since April 2010, with a loss in June 2010 at 4.5 weeks, and a loss in April 2011 at 8 weeks (possibly ectopic). Saw the RE in May 2011, we were moving forward with testing and an IUI when we

Kelly, I think it's GREAT that your OB can do all that stuff! The only reason I moved from my OB to my RE is because my OB can do the testing and the bloodwork along with the Clomid but they don't do any procedures at all. I had to go to an RE for that.

For the record, my dr and a lot of others feel the same way about the Progesterone. Think of it like this. If your hCG is very low and they suspect you're going to miscarry, they could shoot you up with hCG but would that help? Nope. You're treating the symptom of the problem, not the problem. Now that is how it was explained to me. Do I believe that? I have always been on the fence. Ask ten dr's and you'll get ten diff answers.

The one thing that does perplex me is why you have to wait to start the Clomid. I get they are taking blood on CD 3 and 21 of next cycle but that is no reason to delay Clomid.

Wooo Hooo - great appt. Kelly - like Chelle said - the only reason I got to and RE is that my OB didn't do the IUI's... I think that sounds like a fantastic approach and am excited for you to get going. I'm with Chelle also in that you shouldn't have to wait two cycles - you typcially don't start Clomid until either CD3 or CD5 so you can get your BW in the morning and then start your pills that night if she wants you to do CD3...

Am just so happy for you that you can stay with the practice your comfortable with and the dr. took the time to really listen. GL and KUP on what next steps are!!!!

Hugs ~

Ann

Sounds like a great consult to me! I hope that you can get that BFP soon!

As for the progesterone, I think that falls into one of those categories of they aren't sure if it'll help, but it certainly can't hurt! So, I would say, if they are offering to write you a script for it, take it! :) And I'm with whoever it was (Michelle?) who is wondering why you have to wait for next cycle's bloodwork before you could take the Clomid? I understand that they want to get a clear picture of what your body is doing, but I would think they could do the later-portion of your cycle bloodwork this cycle and then move on to do your CD3 bloodwork next cycle and just start taking the Clomid on CD3 after your bloodwork is done. But, then again, I'm not the medical professional and don't know the rationale for things. We had to sit out a cycle on our CM charting when we first got started so they had a baseline of what my cycle looked like. It's hard to wait it out, because we always are thinking, "what if this was the month?" But, we also feel like there is a plan for our lives and we can't rush them or make them happen just by saying we want something to happen. :) Good luck! I'm glad you came away from your appointment feeling good!

I didn't read anyone else's comments, but I think you're doing the right thing by sticking with your OB.

thanks guys! I am still feeling pretty good about the consult and more excited to move forward.

I am going to ask about starting the Clomid earlier - next cycle instead of 2 cycles from now. The only reason I think that she wanted to wait is to see if something like a thyroid problem showed up in my bloodwork, she said they would want to fix that problem before putting me on Clomid.

Kelly I just got to read this, but yay! Sounds great. If I were you, i'd do the same thing. Since you have a good rapport with this ob, AND she can go as far as the IUI's I think sticking with her is a good move. Hoping all your tests come back right as rain and the clomid is the little kick your ovaries need :) but I like the ob's comment that you could be pg before any of that has to happen. GL sistah!
