Mia Margaret was born at 4:05 pm EST. 7lbs 4 oz, 18 1/2 inches on 11-7-04. We had sex Sunday morning, I showered at 10am ish, and noticed contractions 6 min apart. I told dh, he was a slow poke and we didn't leave til 1pm. I was starting to panic as contractions were 3 and 4 minutes apart and some were pretty intense. We got to the hospital right before 2pm I think, was 4 cm and 80%, doing good with contrax. The mw attended the birth. The nurse insisted on a hep lock, which was useless since I didn't use/need it. Nurse was

kind of persnickety, the mw kept reminding her this was "natural childbirth", lol. The mw (Denise) was actually nice, very gentle, let me labor how I wanted and even helped me through some contractions. My sister was at work in the CT dept at the hospital, and was able to be there for the birth too. SHe was a little annoying, trying to be helpful ;) DH was great even though he was distracted watching the Steelers game - I missed it, lol. My mom was there too. The contractions seemed pretty short and I was able to relax through them. I did have 3 right on top of each other that gave me a hard time - transition. I was on hands and knees, kneeling up, I decided to push because I knew I didn't want another contraction. I didn't really have the urge for 2 pushes, and was even uncomfortable letting go enough to push. On the 3rd, I let go, got a great push, she crowned, mw said stop, I said no, and out she came, lol. Amazing incredible relief. I cried. Mia peed all over right away. I got turned around and after Mia got pink and warm she latched on for 30 min or so.

Placenta delivered a little slowly, but mw was fine and didn't rush or press my stomach, TG. No tears or anything, my muscles are sore, but feeling ok in general. No soreness down there. Lots of cramps, ugh. I'm a bit shaky, and queasy. Emotional, weepy,

happy. In love, she is so sweet, beautiful. I'm still in awe and disbelief that we have a baby girl.
