so yesterday my DD was dx with hand-foot-and-mouth disease which is really just a virus. I wont get into how frustrated I am that she even got it because she's home with me all the time and i'm very neurotic about cleaning her toys. Anyways the Ped said i should check with my OB bc of nursing and expose to the new baby. Well the OB said it could hurt the baby and cause a miscarriage and told me to stop nursing immediately because the sores are in her mouth (though i still can't see any nor are they on her hands or feet- i think the Dr was wrong with the diagnosis ) put the baby at increased risk while nursing.

HUGS Lindsey! I'm so sorry this is happening. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now. If you think the diagnosis is wrong maybe you can get a second opinion? And your BFing relationship doesn't have to suffer. I hope it gets better and you don't loose your supply and once she gets better you can get back on track.

I am so sorry. I second getting a 2nd opinon. If you or DD is not ready to stop nursing then thats what I would do. I hope everything works out for you.

Hey Lindsey,
My nieces half sister had hand/foot and mouth diesease and it was horrible! She had really horrible black soars that covered the inside of her mouth, very horrible! He palms and soles of her feet were also covered! I would get a second opinion asap! Also you can pump and then give your DD the breast milk in a bottle! That way you should still have some supply to work with when the week is over! I hope things work out the way you want them to! Big hugs.
