Tandem?

I feel conflicted when it comes to tandem nursing. I think I want L to wean before baby #2 is here, but I don't really have a good reason. I just think it's time. It's weird because, depending on who I talk to, I can get harassed for nursing him this long, or I can get harassed for even thinking of weaning him. =(

In the beginning with L, nursing was very rough. With a new baby nursing every 2 hours, and taking 45 minutes to nurse, I can't imagine nursing a toddler, too. I know it can be done, I'm just not sure I want to do it.

Any advice on the subject? Any advice on how to wean L?? When during pregnancy can I expect my supply to diminish?

TIA!!

Well for me I found nursing while pregnant next to impossible - I got the heebie jeebies after about month 4 or and my milk was drying up. DS would tell me there is no milk in there and the dry nursing just about drove me up the wall - apparently this is a common feeling but doesn't of course happen for everyone. Honestly I was worried that I would never like nursing again and didn't know how it would feel to nurse a newborn if that was how I was feeling. Fortunately DS weaned himself without tears and pain.........I started limiting his nursing sessions - counting to 10 etc. He was over 2 so could understand what I was talking about.
The ladies on the Extended Breastfeeding board would have some great advice and insight for you - There folder "The Extra Big Comfy COuch" is for the tandem mamas.
I don't mean to sound negative - just wanted to share my personal experience - I totally get what you are saying about other people's opinions - when I first got pregnant, I was met with utter shock by many that I was still nursing and got a lot of unsolicited advice on how it wasn't good for me, the new baby blah blah blah - my SIL who is very educated thought all my colostrum would be gone etc.......I actually learned to enjoy the outrage of it all and get people wound!
Good luck in making that decision and keep in mind that Lucas might just make it for you :)
