AF ? Is that you?

Hi ladies :smileyhappy: Well this topic is really an informative/educational one for you mamas patiently waiting for AF to show..... as we are not TTC right now (well he isn't anyways lol!)......I thought I would document all the good details as a case study. So here are my stats....

Nursing baby #3 who is now 15 months old.

She nurses to sleep at night, usually once or so throughout the night - sometimes more, but we bed share so who knows for sure ! - nurses a lot in the early a.m. hours and first thing when she wakes up, nurses to sleep at naptime and usually again when she wakes up....I am not restricting her nursing at all and have never done so - she is teething some serious molars so likes to pacify herself on me right now. She IS quite a decent night sleeper so I often do get a good long stretch of sleep in the middle of the night (as far as I know).

After DS #1 was born - AF returned at 16 months PP with the help of vitex, and stretching out nursing sessions as best I could.  I got pregnant with #2 when he was 22 months old.

After DS#2 was born - AF returned at around 4 months PP - no vitex or anything used - I was super surprised - at around 6 or so months I started using Vitex to help regulate cycles and was getting a pretty regular cycle soon after. As many of you know, this still did not help in getting my BFP -  I was O'ing, had a decent LP, hormones checked out okay etc. - timed BD, OPK's, fertility monitor, herbs/supplements - you name it - we tried it....finally turned to clomid (fail), IUI's (fail x 3), and IVF (Baby girl #3 was conceived!!!!).....

So here we are - 15 months PP - I have had many, many, many patches of fertile CM over the past year - I do not temp, chart, do OPK's, use my monitor, or take anything other then my prenatal vitamin and when I remember, calcium/magnesium, and b complex on occasion.

I do remember having a lot of fertile Cm about a week and a bit ago.....last Sunday I had some serious cramping/weird sensations in my lower abdomen - I am chalking it up to food poisoning or a virus - was honestly driven to distraction - it felt so crampy uncomfortable - had to go and lay down and skip dinner. This lasted just over 24 - 48 hours......I think it was a virus but who knows?!

Either yesterday or Monday I remember thinking I wonder if AF is coming - it just crossed my mind like some weird psychic thing - when I wiped (TMI ALERT!!!) a few hours later, there was streaky, brown CM that looked very much like the beginning of AF coming. Nothing again for the rest of the day......Hmmmmm.

Today - a bit of pink, streaky CM - nothing else today.

My lower back is a bit crampy. I feel a bit heavy/possibly crampy coming.  I think AF is trying to come and maybe I am willing her away lol. I do not think it is implantation spotting (even though there is tiny glimmer of hope - okay maybe not so tiny - but I am realistic - really I am :smileyhappy:......)

What I am wondering is if it is like my very first ever PPAF which was mostly just a tiny day of anovulatory bleeding.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's update.....as we chronicle my PPAF - for scientific purposes only lol!

LOL - I am super torn about wanting her back!!!! It has been 2 years to the date that I have had to deal with the whole monthly business (!) and I want to be fertile again on one hand, but on the other figure the longer no AF, the longer I have to convince DH to skip the big V discussion :smileyhappy: I seriously think I am willing her away for a bit longer.... Yes I am a little bit nutso :smileyhappy:

Hope you are feeling ok Jasmine. Sounds like you could be Oing again soon. I hope you and your DH come to an agreement that makes you both happy. xxx

Sometimes men are so oblivious, I bet you could make it the week without him knowing! :smileywink:

Lol! Oh I totally could ....he works some crazy hours so it wouldn't be hard!!! Seems like it was some anovulatory spotting anyways as there was literally just a few wipes and tinges of spotting and then nothing! Wonder what next month will bring? I like how you think mama W :smileyhappy:

Thanks Jade :smileyhappy: I am really good...the Af turned out to be more like some breakthrough/anovulatory spotting. Only 2 days with 2 different wipes of almost nothing.....curious for sure but that happened to me after DS#1 was born and my first few 'cycles' were not much to speak of. I do find it interesting that despite not using any of my tricks to get AF back, she seems to be trying at the average mark of 14/15 months PP no matter. You good?

Because you needed IVF last time around, I'm thinking you should be able to convince DH that it's unlikely anyway so he doesn't need to do anything drastic. Some supplements could get you on track again... and then Bingo! How did THAT happen?

lol! Yes - exactly! I also told him a true story of a friend of mine whose DH had the snip awhile back and is having continued complications from the whole thing - a rare occurrence for sure - but still - scary to men who are already not too crazy about the whole idea :smileyhappy:

I think a bit of subliminal messaging about being "less of a man" might help too. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe the snip makes men any less of a man, but I suspect men worry about such things! Although, that's probably very sexist and old fashioned and simply untrue of comtemporary men. Yeah, conscentrate on how it can go wrong. I dread to think. Snip snip... ouch!
