Clomid anyone?

O.K., so I have to say I LOVE my doctor! I just was thinking about Clomid.....I had ruled out the possibility b/c insurance doesn't pay. Guess what? Generic Clomid is $9 for a 5 day supply! Who knew?

So, on an impulse I called and left a message for my doctor asking them to ask her if she'd consider it. Thirty minutes later, she called me in person. She first laughed and said I was the first 44 year old patient ever with six kids to request Clomid......; )

She asked me about my cycle, what was going on, gave me the lowdown on risks, etc......and said she was sure I probably already researched all that, but anyway.......She didn't see how a few cycles could hurt. What pharmacy should she call it in.......how cool is that?

I in no way think this is a magic bullet, but nothing is happening on my own, so what's a couple of cycles to try?

I went from being depressed about my temp. dumping today to a hopeful excitement in one phone call. At least it's something to try.

Dee-

I'm so glad you posted this today! I woke up this morning in such a funk regarding my fertility issues and was totally coming on the board to have my own lil' brat attack... (which I still might do so I don't highjack your thread!). Hearing that your Dr is willing to put you on clomid while you are BFing made my day! :)

While I know I am early in this journey and I have to let my body try to fix itself the knowledge that after my 1st LO my body never ever regulated itself without fertility treatments (and a LOT of them!) is one big huge downer. The fact that I'm turning 30 tomorrow doesn't help my funky mood!

Ok.. like I said... not highjacking (sorry!!). Your dr rocks!

Yes, she totally does rock!

She did ask me how much I was still nursing. She knows me well enough to know I wouldn't have a just 2 year old weaned. ; )

I told her just to go to sleep and maybe 3 minutes in the middle of the night. So I guess that's o.k. with her. Honestly, I didn't even think about the nursing issue b/c it's such a small amount.

I was worried she'd say "no" just b/c it probably won't do that much. I mean, if there aren't many good eggs at 44.....your odds don't improve dramatically if you get a few more going than normal. But at least it's something. She did say the odds of multiples is like 8 percent. That makes me happy. If I only get one more shot at it, might as well go out with a bang. ; )

Hmmm. Plus the increased "risk" of twins with bfing (like 9%, I believe) plus the increased risk because we're older.....You could be looking at a 50/50 shot.

But....what's up with our charts this am, girl?

I'm so excited...I am sitting here looking at my Clomid....o.k. the generic clomid...I just want to take one already to see if I feel anything. How dumb is that? I know there's not tons of success with clomid in *ahem* older ladies. But at least it's a try.

I just need af to show already so I can get this cycle over with and get on with it. I like my old 12 day lp. Fourteen seems so long now. : p

Dee,
I'm excited for you. I think most of the negative for women over 40 is more about first time conceptions. Your body knows what to do, it just needs a nudge. I'm very optimistic about how well it will work for you, given your history. But, I'm not so sure you're out for this cycle yet....I'll be stalking you. I'm hoping for a super high temp tomorrow for you.

You keep on hoping, girl.

Meantime, I have my Clomid and I just ordered pre-seed. ; )

Did I see you started spotting again?

I'm with Sunday... hopefully you won't need it!!

Good to have the pre-seed on hand too! Clomid can mess with your CM... so SHOULD you have another cycle and use it (and I'm still crossing crossables you won't!) watch those OPKs!!
