So dd hasn't been nursing well lately.

I'm sorry that you're feeling your body's betrayal.
Don't think of yourself as only a pacifier. Seriously, hon......any bit of milk you produce is good for her. I haven't felt a letdown in months and months......my DD was 2 in July and only nurses for a few minutes to go to sleep and once in the middle of the night. She has done this for a couple of months.
Last week she didn't nurse to sleep a couple of nights in a row and started sleeping through here and there. I was sure it was the beginning of the end. Every once in awhile she will tell me the milkie is all gone, too......But this week she is back to her usual before bed and once at night again.
I am not ready for her to wean.....I've been nursing and/or pregnant for 15 years....and I'm not pregnant now....so if she weans, it'll be a sad first for me. So I keep offering to her and if she says yes, great. She doesn't seem to mind at all that there's not much milk. My boobs...previously pretty big are now smaller than they were before my first child almost 15 years ago! But she still nurses.
So I would keep offering and see what happens. If she turns you down flat time after time, maybe she's ready. But you can keep trying.....AND....there's nothing wrong at all with being a bit of a pacifier, too. I know my DD isn't getting much milk anymore..... but our nursing to sleep time is special to us both.
Can you tell this is a subject near and dear to my heart? If you want your LO to wean, you can ignore everything I just said. ; ) But if you don't.....keep offering and know whatever she gets is good for her in many ways.

You won't have to go anywhere because you're going to get a BFP this month!
I wish I had some advice to offer you, but have you looked at kellymom.com?
Karen lynn, Dee and kurunner~Thanks so much for your replies and kind words!
I am definately not ready to wean!
I think Dee is next for a Big Fat Positive!!!!! : ) And I'll definately stick around if yall don't mind keeping me lol!>>>>
Oh, I'll take that bfp! But.....where are my manners? You first, hon!!!
And....you're always welcome here!
I stopped feeling let down at about a year.

Definately stay! My DD weaned about 6 months ago now (has it really been that long?) but I can't bear to go over to the general TTC boards. You ladies are much much much much more sane than them, not to mention less competative!
On the note of supply issues... have you tried fenugreek? I used it a little towards the end. It did seem to work at least a little. DD was just ready though. Good luck and keep us updated!!!
That way maybe I won't end up completely drying up since she's not nursing through the night anymore. *fingers crossed*>>>>>>
I don't think you'll dry completely up while she's still nursing at all. Your supply might go down, but like you said, if she's happy, then you're happy. ; )
Nursing an older child is def. different than a baby baby. You can go along for a long time just nursing a little bit. I've had toddlers go a week or more in between nursings for the last few months of nursing.....before finally weaning. I didn't dry up until well after the very LAST nursing session.
Good to know Dee; I guess I just worry more since my supply has always been an issue with all my dc....
I have definately tried fenugreek/blessed thistle per my lactation consult, several times with all my dc.
