Hi my name is Heather. Married to Scott and mother to the wonderful Charlotte. Charlotte is just about 11months old.

Here's my history. Decided to ttc back in 2009. Got pregnant right away. Found out at 8 weeks that baby had died around 5 weeks naturally miscarried. Decided to try again right away but no luck. AF never would visit unless I took provera. OB had me try a few rounds of clomid and when that didn't work referred me to an RE. The RE did the work up and told me I have PCOS. We did provera, clomid, and trigger shot and that worked. I was pregnant with Charlotte.

We have decided to try again. I stopped taking the mini pill a couple of weeks ago. Charlotte still nurses 5 times during the day. She STTN thankfully. AF has not yet made her appearance. I really hope I don't have to wean in order to get pregnant again or that the PCOS is causing problems. Going to see the OB again for my yearly check up and will talk to him about it. Really hope it goes smoother this time around.

Looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I don't have much time so will try to write more later but wanted to encourage you by saying I had/have PCOS and hav gotten pregnant 3 times while breastfeeding and hoping to again:) My kids are 22 months apart and the 3&4 are 19 months - my youngest is 6 months old now and no regular AF but she has been my hardest baby nursing on demeans around the clock and won't take a bottle or paci so I think it will be a bit longer before I get AF back. Last time I got pregnant when my baby was 10 months old so there is hope. I will write again with what I do but in the end each person is different and each baby causes our bodies to respond differently but you can get pregnant while breastfeeding and with PCOS!

It's so good to hear from someone in a similar situation. I hope things work for me as they did for you. Did you have any problems conceiving the first time? Thanks for your help and encouragement.

Yes, it took us two year and a surgery on my ovaries (drilling to lower hormone levels) to get pregnant the first time. We tried multiple medicated cycles and I was taking metformin for about 18 months before we conceived on an "off medication" cycle. I was also taking vitex which I think really helps me. After all my babies AF has shown up around 6 weeks PP and usually stays for the first few monts and then goes away for the next five months....but now with the fourth I got AF early like the others but she nurses so much and is such a high needs baby that AF has stayed away. I honestly like hav ing AF so I can track my cycles so I am frustrated now not having it and worry a little that it won't come back that my fertility will never return - I over think it when I know the best thing is to wait and see - worrying does nothing!

How old is you little one? You can take provera to jump start AF. I have done this before and works well. I would just not do it if your baby is still reall little because if you body is not ready you will get one AF and then go into non ovulation non AF land again!

LO is 11 months old. Can't believe she is almost a year old. Time sure does fly. I will have to ask my OB about provera if nothing happens before I see him. Haven't been off birth control long enough yet. I see him in April so we will see.

Hi Heather and welcome to you :) I am a bit negligent in checking the board this week - sorry!
I don't have experience with PCOS but have quite a bit with fertility treatments as conceiving #3 was very difficult for us and we ended up doing IVF after many rounds of clomid (blah!), numerous IUI's, and one injectables/trigger shot/IUI - finally had success with our first and only round of IVF....it was a rough time but as you know, worth every extra step we had to take. I do very much hope for you that this time it is much easier and you have another little one growing very soon. So glad you are joining us - hope you stick around!

Hi! Your LO is older. Charlotte turns 1 April 21st. I can't believe we're almost there.

So happy IVF worked for you on the first try. One of my friends is currently in the TWW of her first IVF cycle I hope she has the same success you did.
