Progesterone Cream or Supplements

Would any one of you ladies on either a prog/natural yam cream or on prog suppositories please explain to me how to use them? I understand starting the usage the day after you ovulate, but will the progesterone cause a delay in AF if you do not become pregnant or will AF come anyway? I just want to know if I take the cream for a bit and wait for AF or if I stop the progesterone a certain amount of days post ovulation. I'm confused!!

for me, When I used the suppositories AF didn't come untill after I stopped using them, even with My M/C I didn't start bleeding until after I stopped them and the it still took a few days. WHen I did the cream AF came on it's own and then I stopped using it. THe cream is much less then the supp. It is just to help along not replace. if that makes sense. GL!

Ok thanks so much! Maybe I'll start with the cream and see if that helps first. Then move onto the suppositories in a month or two. As long as it doesn't screw up my cycle too much, I should be ok I hope!

just a quick note, you need to make sure the cream you use has actual USP progesterone in it. Some creams only have natural yam and that is not a source of progesterone by itself. It has to be converted in a lab. I used a cream that had wild yam, but it listed USP progesterone on the ingrediants list. The cycle I took it was my bfp cycle, I continued to use it until my level were checked, then weaned off it and my levels were checked a long the way to make sure everything was fine. Good luck!

Daniele, how much did you use a day. I have some and started using it. It says to use only a pea size. that seems very little. Mine is from natures sunshine. Thanks

Hi Jamie,

I bought the kind that came out in premeasured pumps. The brand was NOW essentials or naturals I can't remember. I took two doses or pumps, a day. I would look and see what the measured amount of prog. is per dose. it should say it on the back. I wish I still had my container then I could see how much it had to compare.

thanks, Yeah the whole bottle is 500mg, it says each 1/4 inch measures 22mg. I just think that is so minute compared to the 400mg supp. I was taking 2 times a day.

That sounds about right for a cream. The cream's do have a very small amount compaired to supplements, some say its to little to make a difference but lots of people seem to have good results. I was spotting 3-4 days before af was due and my pms was getting really bad, I tried it one month an got my bfp.... I don't think it was a miracle worker, but I do think it helped contribute. I also took FertileCM for the first time that month and used instead cups as well as uping our bd schedule. I think they all worked in increasing our chances.
