Caroline sometimes sleeps through the night and sometimes doesn't but still no sign of AF. She's just started some cereal yesterday but still nursed normally. Will starting solids make AF show or will it stay away as long as she's still nursing about 6 xs a day? We're not looking to TTC until at least January but I'm just an worrywart and want to know more about other people's experiences when they were ready. I think it would be great if I didn't have to wean her in order to get my o back.

For me AF came back when DS was 9 months old. My girlfriends baby is 15 months old and she's still BF and AF hasn't returned yet. Everyone is different. I'm still nursing about 5x a day and so is she.

Hi Robyn,

My AF came back at 16 months PP. I was still breastfeeding quite a lot, especially at night. It seems to be very individual when AF returns, but I've heard the average is 14 months when bf. Good luck!

Starting solids shouldn't cause your AF to return, but everyone's cycle is different. With my dd, I BF for 15 months, and AF didn't show up until she was 13 months, and down to 2x a day. Then I didn't get another one until she was 16 months, but my cycles are irregular to begin with. My ds is now 11 months, he is sleeping through the night, and nursing 6x a day. AF has not returned yet. I heard that the average BF mom does not get AF back until 14 months PP.
