Time on Boob or Frequency on Boob?

Hey Mommas,

I've read so much that it's all abig mush in my head and I'm wondering how other mommas interpret this...

So as I understand it... nursing raises prolactin which surpresses O.

Hi :) I am going to vote that it is probably a bit of both - and really more dependent on how your particular body responds to the levels of prolactin - for some women, it doesn't seem to make any difference at all and they get AF super early regardless. If I had to choose though, I would tip the scale towards frequency - the more you nurse, the more regularly you are keeping the levels of prolactin even - KWIM. When I was trying to get pregnant while nursing, I was more mindful of spreading the nursing sessions out and even trying to drop one.

I completely agree with Jasmine, For me it was definately better to have LONG periods between nursing, just to O but to have a strong O I have had to reduce the time as well, soooo. I do hope you get your BFP this month, then you don't have to worry about it.

I have read that it is frequency that Counts towards returning fertility. Less sessions and your periods come back. Have your doc test your prolactin levels. It is a simple blood draw. My Dd was nursing several times day and night and my level came back equivalent to a non-nursing woman.

Thanks so much mommas! I'm so appreciative of this most awesome and supportive community! :)

My annual is coming up in May and I'll ask my doctor about my levels...

I'll be mindful of the time between sessions.... which means wearing less tank tops which is hard in a warm climate!

Outta sight outta mind! ;)
