Hi everyone! I am new to the board, also post on October 2000 playgroup. Anyway, dh and have started ttc this month. Question: dd is 29 months, still breastfeeds, on average a few times in the evening on Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sun (including a couple times of latch on for a few seconds at night, we co-sleep) I work until 4pm these days. Then on Mon, Tues, and Sat she will go on and off during the day and of course the couple seconds latch on at night to go to sleep. N-E-WAYS my question is would this prevent me from getting pg? I got AF back when she was 12 months and have a 26-28 day cycle. Any comments, suggestions are welcome. Thanks,

Brianna

Hi, Brianna,

Welcome. The ladies on this board are full of information. The key to TTC, obviously is that you are ovulating. Since you have had a pretty regular AF for over a year now, you are probably ovulating. The best way to tell is to do temp charting (have you done that before?). That way if you are showing a clear thermal shift along with fertile-quality CM, you can determine when you are ovulating and BD accordingly ;-). As for the bfing, my ds was a little younger than your dd when we TTC, but I had gotten AF about the same time PP as you had, and through charting was able to tell that I was ovulating every cycle. If you haven't charted before, just say so and I'm sure you will get TONS of info (it becomes quite addictive after awhile, lol).

Good luck to you. I hope you enjoy your stay here. This is a great, knowlegeable group.

Here's a good place to start to get the basics.

http://pages.ivillage.com/ttcfaq/index.html

You can do a chart online. A popular, free site is Fertility Friend, just enter a search in your browser and you can get to their site. Then, if you want, you can create a home page that allows you to post your chart here and others on the board can look at it and help you interpret it (there are some real experts here). Another good source is Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCOYF) a book by Toni Wechsler. I checked it out from the library, didn't actually buy it. It gives you everything you ever wanted to know (or didn't, lol), about your monthly cycle and your body's signals.

GL, and hope to see you around.
