13 Weeks...

Hello....Just thought I'd update you. I'm officially 13 weeks tomorrow. Had a dr appointment today....strong heartbeat, I've gained 2 lbs (which is great for me, since I'm thin and have a hard time putting weight on, I'm also on a lower carb diet...so how I'm eating is working...I want to gain weight!), no sugar/protein in my urine (made me happy since I'm prediabetic)....overall a good appointment.

Now to wait another 4 weeks until the next appointment. Feeling pretty good...but very nervous about it all. Still doesn't seem real...we have yet to tell ANYONE!! I just can't tell anyone until I feel less anxious ...our families/friends will be very happy/excited...and I'm just not there yet...still scared out of my mind....Just taking it one day at a time...

Thinking about all of you...still checking posts and seeing how you're all doing. My heart goes out to you, as you continue your ttc journey. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Catherine xx

What great news! It will all start to feel more real once you start to tell people. Taking it a day at a time is good, love to hear good news like yours!

Thank you! I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes/insulin resistance about 6 months ago. My sugar levels are above normal when I eat high carb meals...so I've had to adjust my diet and work with a nutritionist to keep my sugar under control. If I want potato/pasta I have to combine it with a large amount of protein for example. I check my sugars so I'm able to tell what foods I can get away with and what ones I can't. It's not easy because I'm thin and love my bread, potatoes and pasta. My dr is monitoring this closely. So far things have been fine. Hopefully it doesn't get worse and I need insulin....one day at a time. Will keep you posted. Cath

Hi Cath, sorry you have pre-diabetes. I had GD with my last baby, and now I am at that point too. I have not been very disciplined about it, but there are quite a few things you can do. I have added in a few supplements, and am trying to drink more water, something I really struggle with. In my case, I think if I managed to drink enough it would make a HUGE difference to how my body processes sugar. You might also want to check out the book The Miracle Diet for Diabetes. (At least I think I got the title right.) I have not actually tried it, but it all makes perfect sense to me. I just have not made the commitment to it, again, the discipline thing! Lol! Hope you never have to go on insulin, but if you do it really isn't the end of the world. :-)

YAY for a good appointment!

I had SUCH a hard time during the early weeks of my pregnancy w/ Megan. Soooo much ambivalence and fear that something would go wrong. But, my confidence grew each day that I remained pregnant and even though I never graduated into that blissful state of mind, I did reach a point where things felt good enough for me to truly believe in a happy ending for myself. I hope that feeling is right around the corner for you!

Take care! =)
