Hi all,

It has been a while since I posted, but I had wonderful news that I wanted to share with all of you in the same situation. After a laparoscopy, MC, and three failed IUI attempts, I am PG on my own. Everyone said that as soon as we quit "really trying" it would happen. I of course thought they were silly well wishers who have no idea of the low odds at my age...and low and behold I am eating my words.

I am of course very nervous since I am a high risk for another MC so I am proceeding with caution. I am only a couple days late and have a positive HPT. I hope to see the doc this week for a BT.

Thanks to everyone here for providing me with a place to share good and bad.

You give me hope too! I am 43 and wondering if it's even possible to conceive without intervention. My cycles are as normal and regular as they were when I was 20! Congratulations!!!!!

casara2004,

One peice of advice I would share - I had been very regular as well, so although the IUI's did not take, the intervention I am sure hoped in some way. I had some tubal blockage (just built up over time) and having that cleared I am sure improved my odds. If you haven't had any tests done I would at least recomend that.

Good Luck

Mary -

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!! You said you had some tubal blockage. Did you have that cleared before or after your MC?

I'm 41 and trying to get pg; I got pg for the first time last December, but had MC in January - they said it was most likely due to my age. We have just recently started trying to get pg again; my ob-gyn said my being able to get pg in the first place was a good sign, but I'm wondering if it doesn't work in 4-6 months if I should have things checked out.

PS: I think I've found the board I like!! I thought I was the only crazy chick trying to get pg after 40! It helps knowing I'm not the only one, and there is still hope for me.

Hi just read your post and I'm kinda new here. I went thru two miscarriages at 42. Working with the doc to find out why this is happened. I thought it was the age thing too. My DH is 36, I have 2 kids from a previous marriage and would like one of our own. What is Clomid?
May have to try some pregesterone pills to help the pregnancy stick. For some reason I can get pregnant real fast, but nothing too exciting forms in the sack. Then both times I miscarry around 10 weeks. How heatrbreaking that was.
Hopefully soon things will work out for the best. But the clock is definitely ticking!

Congrats on your pregnancy!! I am 9dpo and found light spotting today, it was a brownish red, so silly me runs out to buy a pregnancy test, answer and frer, had to be sure of course, well I got a faint second line on both of them. They came up right away!! The spotting is gone for now, I am so scared it's going to come back. By the way I am 43 also!!
