Partial First Results In
12
Wed, 01-27-2010 - 7:27am

My first results are in and progesterone level is at 11.86. Beta results won't be in till this afternoon. I faxed those to the Dr and I am waiting to hear back.

Isn't that too low for 4 weeks?

Rosario I don't know anything about progesterone levels, they never checked mine. Because of problems with one pregnancy they put me on it and so I go on it whenever I am pregnant, but even when they first put me on it they never tested me. My doctor at the time said that the results were "unreliable" and wouldn't show anything conclusive, but she was a horrible doctor and I no longer trust her to even take my temperature! There may b some internet sites that list that, or your doctor should be able to tell you as well. Hope you get fantastic beta results!

Thanks!

I faxed the progesterone results to the Dr this morning and she prescribed Prometrium 400 MG per day. Beta results are not in yet. I guess I have to wait till tomorrow for that one!

Aw, I hate waiting! You know, I thought I had heard that it should be 14 or 15, or maybe even higher but I really had no idea so I wasn't about to say anything. I do know that progesterone production does fall with age, so supplementing is pretty common. Glad you got on that right away, it can only help!

Hi Michelle,

I got the first beta back. It's 200 at approximately 4 weeks and 3 days. I've been looking in the internet and it looks like beta numbers fluctuate so much that there really isn't like a "normal" range. I read what really matters is the doubling time. I guess I have no way of knowing the doubling time because the dr gave me an appointment for Feb 8th for the first ultrasound. From here till then I'll just be happy I'm pregnant for the first time in my life. And it happened naturally, I wasn't even trying or charting anymore! I did that for 2 years. This time I don't even have an idea when I actually ovulated, lol! I'm just gonna enjoy the perks! (DH is even doing the dishes and cooking!!!)

Rosario:

My RE wanted my progesterone over 12. I was on a supplement because I did IVF. I'd think your number is okay and with the supplement you should be okay. I hate waiting as well! I'm sorry they won't do a second beta to give you piece of mind but the 8th will be here before you know it and you'll get to see for yourself.

Enjoy this time and we'll look forward to your update!

Hi Rosario,

I think 200 is pretty decent, but you are right, it is really the doubling time that is important. I am surprised they ordered a beta without a second actually, unless they were using it as a preg test. Regardless, I am SO happy for you, and really glad that you have such a wonderful attitude about it all. Can't wait to hear your great news at your u/s!

This made me teary eyed. We've been trying for long...It's so great to see you post here & to see your pregnancy ticker. There have been a few Bfp here and most ladies are already posting baby pics.

Take it all in girl and enjoy your bfp and the next 9 mos.
