amnio question

Typically amnio results take about 3 weeks to get back BUT if you ask for the FISH test - which is done with the amnio fluid - then you can get the results back within 48 hours. The FISH test will test for all the 'age related' chromosome problems (DOwns, taysachs etc.) so you can be fairly sure if your FISH test comes back ok that everything IS ok. The balance of the amnio tests will check for hereditary problems. Hope this helps! Oh... you can get an amnio done as early as 15 weeks.
