Another TTCer...I'll show you where the lurkers are!
Thank you but I'm going to stay with this board.
I have been visiting ParentsPlace sites for more than seven years, basically since my first pregnancy. I really appreciate having access to a group of online communities on so many topics relevant to me, and to be able to access all these different conversations through a single site (and sometimes meet the same people on different boards--many people are active on a number of them). I generally remain a lurker, not out of apathy but because I don't have time to post non-work-related messages during work (and I don't use a computer at home). However, reading messages on this and other boards is often helpful and inspiring.
Good luck to all those TTC over 40... (By the way, I have two kids already--I am just hoping to get lucky one more time.)
Good luck LF on #3.
Hugs and baby dust
Thanks for trying to get this one going. I would definitely like to interact with people my age as well. I am 42 and TTC my first. DH has a 17 year old. Here's a little history on me...
TTC about 20 months. Had a lap done last April, one tube appeared to be blocked, but everything else looked good. Was to get a tubal cannulization to clear blockage and then got PG but soon had a M/C. Tried on our own for another 4-6 months, then went back to the RE.
In the last two weeks, I have started injectibles (Bravele) and responded well. Had a Tubal Cannulization - had a little blockage in both tubes - now free and clear. Did my HSG shot last night, and have an IUI on Monday!!!!
I am trying to not get my hopes up, but everything is in our favor at this point. I have 4 follies on the left and two on the right. Several are over 22 in size.
Wish me luck, and lets get this board active.
I know what you mean about wanting to interact with other people our age. This is always the first board I come to when I log in, although I do visit others. Women dealing with infertility at our age have issues/concerns that younger women may not have. We don't have the luxury of trying out different treatments when time is of the essence.
How was the tubal cannulization? Was it done under general anesthesia or local? I had an unsuccessful lap, due to complications my RE wasn't able to open the end of my left tube. My RE never mentioned a tubal cannulization, however I also have a mild hydrosalpinx so maybe it doesn't work for that..?..
Here's my story - I'm 41, ttc #1, borderline high FSH, my first month of doing injectibles (repronex 150iu) day 5, I had estradiol drawn this am and I have an u/s tomorrow (monday am). Possible IUI tuesday.. so it sounds like we're almost on the same schedule. How many days did you do the injections? Are you having a single IUI or or they doing a second one tuesday?good luck and God bless, JnAnB
For the tubal cannulization I was sedated. Apparently your not completely under although I can't remember much. Basically, they start with the die (which I felt, and it was painful). Then they use some sort of device to go in an clear out the tubes. It was with a cadiovascular specialist at the hospital. I don't think it is common as the Dr I went to said he and his partner are the only two in the area. Their success rate is really good, but I don't know if it is for everyone. I tried to do research but could't find any on the topic.
As for the injections of Bravele - I did shots for 9 days. As far as I know it is a single IUI, unless the Dr thinks a second would help. At this point it is up in the air.
I will post back and let you know how things go. Hope you get the thumbs up today.
I'm a lurker coming out into the open! I'm Jo, I'm rapidly approaching 42 and trying desparately ttc #2. Dh and I have a beautiful 20 month old son, Finlay. I am currently being investigated for recurrent miscarriages. I had my first m/c before Finlay and I have had 3 more since June last year, the last was in November. We live in London, which I love but DH wants to move to the countryside, maybe next year!
If nothing happens this month than I think it will be off to the Dr's I go.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL AND SENDING LOADS OF BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!!!
