ART - How many tries?

We just finished our first round of "assistance" (clomid, FSH, HCG, IUI), but were unsuccessful. This is the technological limit of "our" tolerance for ART (which means no IVF, no donor eggs, etc.). My RE wants to try again this cycle. I have a question for the women who have used this type of cycle (ovulation induction with IUI):
How many tries is "average" to achieve one pregnancy?
How many tries is "too many" & just wasting money?
Is there any benefit to doing treatment cycles back to back or to spreading them out?
When do you know to "Call the Game"?
I'd be interested in hearing about others' experiences - I am 5 hours from my doc, and there is not a support community accessible to me "in person" (and my spouse does NOT want me sharing that we're doing this in our small town or with family). So, I-Village gals are my resource!
Thanks for any input -

1st Round ART: Clomid 100mg x 5 days; FSH/Bravelle 300mg x 7 days; FSH/Bravelle 225mg x 1 day; no LH surge; HCG "trigger" x 1 day; IUI (25M highly motile) = no conception (CD 30 HCG blood test = <1)
Hi there,
I did 5 cycles with Clomid (with 2 IUI's) and 3 rounds of injectibles (with 2 IUI's).

hi, Beth,
I think you should get some tests done. If your FSH and AMH levels are ok, and things aren't working quite yet, then I'd keep on going. If, however, you come back with an FSH level above 50, and things aren't working, and your AMH level is really low, and your doctor says it doesn't look good, then think more about it. Charts are just charts, but they do tell you some of the story.
hope that helps,
best, martha
Beth, I got pg twice doing IUIs with just clomid and trigger shot.
