Back from the Dr. with Metformin?

I posted yesterday as a newbie and mentioned I had an appt with the Dr. today. I have to say I was so nervous, but the dr. was great! She was able to answer all my questions, and get a detailed history and work-up for me, on the meantime she got me on metformin, she mentioned with my history of annovulatory cycles, my weight (am overweight and has been hard to lose the weight), family history of diabetes and all the other symtoms, she really thinks I have PCOS. She didn't mention it lightly, but she says it will help me regulate my cycles, and help me ovulate, she explained to where it made sense. I have to get some bloodwork on Thursday or friday, which is CD 19, it will help me determine was my egg reserve was, and she will also check what my progesterone level is, and then, depending on what my egg reserve is and if we have a next cycle she mentioned doing a Clomid challenge, where she would start me on 100 mg of Clomid and start increasing.

Has anyone done anything similar, or used metformin before?

Thanks!

Bonnie

Thank you both for responding. At my previous Dr. they did the Hysterosonogram (sp?). And with this new dr. I just did the AMH test, after I get the results we will determine about the Clomid challenge. I am just about to post a question on that.
Thanks!

Welcome Bonnie!

I've never done a clomid challenge or taken Metformin but my periods have always been regular and everything has always indicated that I ovulate every months (I've had numerous blood draws and ultrasounds to verify ovulation).

Yay for a great appointment. Sounds like you found a good doctor. I don't have any experience with the meds but just wanted to share that I have heard success stories
