bad news got worse

thank you all for your encouragement after my zero follicle count this morning. Doctor called and my estrogen level was 10 - also supporting the conclusion that there was nothing in there after 7 days of drugs. They gave me the option of keeping on taking the drugs and going for an ultrasound on Friday. But, they basically said that it was over. So, we'll keep on with the shots and give up all hope on Friday. That's it... now I guess it is on to donor eggs. I just can't believe it. The doctor didn't have much hope to begin with, but said that he'd do one IVF attempt, no matter what. Well, we did the most aggressive protocol and I didn't even make one egg. So, I guess it is better to be absolutely certain that IVF with my eggs will not work before moving on to donor eggs. After a zero follicle count, I am basically absolutely certain that it is game over for my ovaries.

all the best,
Martha

Martha, I am so sorry you didn't get a better response to the meds. Your attitude is great, though -- even if the IVF doesn't work out, you're going to have excellent luck with DE. Whatever happens this week, please be good to yourself and KUP on how you're doing.

I am so sorry it has been such a rough go, it must have been quite the shock for you. You certainly do have a good attitude though, so that will go a long way for you. I hope you get better news on Friday though. ((((Hugs))))

Sorry Martha. What depressing news. I agree with the other posters, keep the positive attitude and move forward. Where there is a will, there is a way!

thank you, all, for your kind words. they mean a lot to me!

I would say to anyone who is thinking, "should I try IVF?" Do it ASAP if you are over 40. I kind of thought that I would always have it as the last resort. Even though my FSH was 3 and I was 42, my IVF chances turned out to be nil with IVF due to my poor ovarian reserve.

on to the donor egg board! Matti is over there.... - martha

Martha:

I'm sorry the news wasn't better but I agree with everyone else - your attitude is to be admired.

The best of luck with DEs - I hope you get your heart's desire.

Sat hi to Mattie over on the other board and reminder her to stop by once in a while and give us an update (you too!) we don't expect to lose either of you!

Be well.
