Hello all!

I have inqured around about soy isoflavones being used. But i guess I am wanting to find someone out here who has actually had any results using them. And what is this thing about robutussin? Can someone help me out?

I have read the same thing about Soy. Only take it like you would Clomid - first day of AF through day 5 then stop. If you continue it can actually hurt your fertility! I have also heard about the Robitussin as well. But again as mentioned above pre-seed is available and without having a loopy feeling!

Can I tell you my story, re: soy isoflavones. They worked for me, but because I didn't know I was hypothyroid - it wreaked havoc on my system and threw my thyroid totally out of whack, which threw all my hormones out of whack and in the end, messed up my system. I call this a cautionary tale, because if I had known I was hypoT, I would never have taken high doses of soy - regardless of the outcome.

Soy is a SERM - selective, estrogen receptor modulator - I hope I got that right by memory. It suppresses estrogen. So the theory is you suppress for the 5 days and then WOOOSH you get a big burst of estrogen which makes a good O. It does work, but you should know that soy is not so great for some women's systems.

I've never used robutussin as my OB thinks it's hokie but I do use pre-seed when needed.

Robitussin is an expectorant, which is used by women who are TTC in helping increase fertile cervical mucus. (It helps loosen phlegm in the chest, and it also happens to increase CM). I read about it in the book Taking charge of Your Fertility.

I was taking Benedryl for my allergies (an antihistamine) and didn't realize it was totally drying out my CM! So expectorants are good, antihistamines are bad!!

Hope this helps. She lists the suggested dosage in her book but I no longer have that info. Perhaps someone else can chime in with that info. :)
