CD3-7 or 5-9?

hi, all,
I have some random clomid and am thinking of just taking it for the heck of it this month. (oh, I got my period after 2.5 months !!! finally!!) I figure, what do I have to lose! I'm just hanging out for 3-4 months waiting until my donor egg program starts.

Anyway, I was wondering what protocol people have used. I did CD 5-9 three times and it didn't work. Thinking of trying the CD 3-7, but wondering if that works at all for women over 40.

thanks for your help!

best,
Martha

yes, nervous, but it really is the only option (except for the secret clomid experiment!)
It's been 2+ years and I got zero follicles with IVF and I'm 43! and I had a .1 AMH level. I believe them when they say that this is the only option.

We did all of the testing, so now we're just waiting. It is ok because it gives me one more window for a miracle!

But, I see little kids on the street and my heart melts. And I think, "I would love to have that little girl as my own!" and I realize that having a child - especially one that is my husband's -- is the most important thing.

ok... CD3-7 it is!

From everything I have read the reason you can't find anything conclusive as to why 3-7 vs 5-9 is because it hasn't really been studied as to what difference - if any - it makes. The reason you quoted (earlier in the cycle means more follies; later means one good follie), is the leading prevalent theory.

Why they don't just do 4-8 is beyond me...

When I did clomid I did 5-9 one 6 month period, 3-7 another 6 month period.

Martha,

Are you going to do Pay as you go cycle or a shared risk type thing?

hi, Kristi and everyone else,

I'm going to try the CD 3-7.... couldn't hurt! Hope to really trick my ole brain...

Kristi, I'm not going through Shady Grove. I think you are? The good news for me is that my insurance pays for everything but the donor fee. The bad news is that I live in the middle of the country. Thus, can't participate in Shady Grove in Baltimore. I guess I could, but it would be a lot of flying! So, I'm sticking with my RE here in Illinois. He and his team somehow "pick" the donor for us given our criteria. They say that it will be Dec. or Jan. We're not going to share the embryos, so hopefully we'll have some back up in case the first time doesn't work.

So, all in all, it should hopefully cost 5K and not 28K which, I believe, is the shared cost quote from Shady Grove.

My husband is 6 feet 10 inches (!!!), so any sort of height requirement for the donor is out the window. Who knows what he will produce! Maybe I'll get a basketball team out of the whole thing. I'm short, but my genes won't be able to tame his!

But! in the mean time! My mad experiment with 50g of clomid will begin tomorrow! I only have that left. Was on 100g, but don't have that much. We'll see. Maybe I'll give myself triplets somehow!

I'm doing yoga now, so maybe it fixed the alignment down there and everything will magically work!

best,
MArtha
