I am 42 in april, and already a fortunate mum to 4 wonderful children, my oldest is nearly 21 and my youngest is 9. after the birth of my 9 year old i was sterilised, i was in a totally unhappy marriage and could never envisage me wishing to have another child.
in the 8 years since my life has totally turned around, i have done a lot of personal development work, got shot of my nasty husband and now have a very succesfull career. i have also met the most wonderful man and we intend to marry soon.
he doesnt have any children and understood from the start that i cannot have any more which he accepts happily. however recently we have started to wish for a child between us and have so much joy from my older children would love to have another little one.
on 15th march 2004 i underwent a sterilisation reversal operation, i am now at home limping round the house and just hoping and praying it has worked.
would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience.
Hello and welcome to the board.
I can't really help you on % of conception after reversal.

thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to my posting. dh has had his sperm count tested and all is fine there. i havn't had any tests, but my surgeon has assured me that my ovaries are still working. the test you mentioned i'm not familiar with - i'm still rather new to this whole experience! after my operation he did say he thought our chances of success were around 50%, so i think its just a waiting game now - 3 month waiting infact until we are safe to start trying!
i would really love to hear from others who have been through this process and hear their experiences of the whole thing.
have already pick up a couple of good tip from the board on boosting our fertility and will be giving them a try.
thanks so much again!

I have heard of quite a few women on ivillage who have done that. With the help of IVF you can have the opportunity to go for that dream!!!

I'm quite new here myself. I have been ttc #3 for 1-1/2 yrs., have two DDs (6 & 5), have recently started IF treatment w/RE - still in the initial testing stages, no treatment plan yet in place.
I have a pal on another board who is 43, and had her tubes tied in previous marriage after having two kids (now in late teens). She is currently 17 wks pregnant after her 1st IVF (in vitro fertilization) attempt!!! (There were twins in the beginning, but sadly one died at 6 weeks). She told me she had to have an IVF cuz that was the only way she could become pg due to tubes tied. At any rate, I don't know the lingo very well but is sterilization the same as tubes tied? Might that mean you could be a good candidate for IVF? I have more questions for you than answers, but perhaps it can help to lead you in the right direction. Best of luck to you!
Regards,
Leah
