Clomid/IUI - A Waste of Time Over 40?

Hi. Sorry, I don't have a lot of advice to offer you, we haven't been down that road. Can you go back and try the IUIs if the IVF doesn't work? I know your frustration with knowing what is the best way to go, but I would say that you need to go with what your heart is telling you is right for you. I personally would go with the IUI first, but that is my own personal choice, since I prefer to go without intervention as much as possible. But remember, that is just MY choice, you have to do what is best for you. What does your DH think? Does he have a preference for one over the other? There are also some natural things you can do to help his issues, but they do take time, 2 or 3 months I think. I agree that it is so hard to know what to do next, I am at that point at the moment too. We had agreed to TTC only until the end of the year, and I am trying to make up my mind on whether to just continue on our own, or to go back to the doctor to get more clomid and try that for the next two months. I think I am leaning to just going without, the four months I was on it didn't help anyway. Sorry, didn't mean to highjack your thread, just let you know that I understand your frustration of trying to decide the best path. Try putting yourself into next summer. Worst case scenario, you still don't have your bfp. If you go with IUI now and put off the IVF, will you regret that, and think that it could have made the difference? If you go straight to IVF will you regret that decision, wishing you still had that option? Sometimes looking at things from a future perspective helps me to make those hard decisions.
