Cycle #5 under way

Hi Ladies,

I just thought to update you on my next cycle.

Cycle #4 (the "troubling" one) indeed did not end up in a BFP. Although 6 or 7 days after the IUI I noticed very light pink spotting and I am now SURE it was implantation spotting. I also had this during cycle #1. I am starting to believe my problem is KEEPING the pg, not getting it.

Yesterday I began Gonal-F injections again. I am now doing them sub-cutaneously, so I don't need assistance. It hurts a little bit, but it's much easier than intramuscular. I guess I will have 8 to 12 days of shots (last cycle was 13 days of shots, but I think it was an abnormal cycle) then the trigger shot and IUI.

This is all while waiting for my appointment in July at RMA, where I plan to do IVF unless a miracle occurs first! I just don't want to lose a cycle in the meantime.

Any thoughts on the implantation issue? Should I try bedrest, or near-bedrest, for the SECOND week of the 2ww? I am starting to think the first week is less crucial, since the (hopefully fertilized) egg is just floating around in there, anyway...!

All the best to everyone and baby dust,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Most Drs seem to agree on the 1 day bedrest during an IVF cycle. This is usually day 3 after fertilization so with an IUI it should be day 5. I got PG on my 1st IVF cycle with 1 day bedrest but M/C @ 9weeks for non IVF related reasons. My second cycle I stayed in bed the whole 2 weeks had better embies & got a BFN. This time I stayed in bed day 1, went downstairs & hung out on the couch getting up & puttering a littleon day 2 & today I have been in between the bed & the computer as I am not feeling too well & hoping it is a good sign!!! We did a poll on bedrest & there were more BFP's with women who were not on bedrest so I am not on total bedrest but taking it easy.

Hope this helps!!!!

Hi Lisa,

I wanted to wish you good luck on this cycle! And yes, take it easy that final week before testing!!! I think alot of women get fertilization but something goes wrong and no implantation.....maybe lining, I don;t know? I read your posts concerning your job frustrations and I empathize.....! Trying to conceive is like a job in itself and we are consumed by it...our hearts and minds are not in our work....I sure feel that way, I have not been as motivated by anything else lately. I would look into disability, you never know! Thank you for the info about the NY/NJ docs...I will be up there end of August, maybe I'll call now and get on the books just in case....

How did your visit with the acupuncturist go? I've been twice already. He is wonderful. I fell asleep during the first treatment and he prescribed herbs for all over wellness. Nothing for fertility yet since I am undergoing the second medicated cycle. When I went for the IUI on Saturday, my lining was thicker than it was..and I tell you, I am beginning to believe that is my problem. I bled for two months plus after my miscarriage and perhaps that thinned my lining? It's funny because the months I've tried to get pregnant; 1 week after 0, I feel awful and a tightening feeling comes over my lower stomach. So I want to look into what helps/thickens uterine lining because I think I am on to something....how is yours? On the advice of the TCM/Acupuncturist, I need to beef up my blood...he diagnoses well, he told me before I told him what ails me....I bruise so easily.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know I am thinking of you, and I am sorry for your frustrations. I hope this is your month!

Hi Barb,

Thank you for your well wishes, they are much appreciated!!! Right back at you!!!! Yes the acupuncture is wonderful!!! My Dr has all these tapes from cable shows that he does & when I was feeling a little tense earlier today I put it on @ it relaxed me. He is like my saviour. As far as thickening your lining you should take one baby aspirin per day.

Catch you later!!!

Barb,

Thanks so much for your message! I really feel like I have the support of some wonderful, intelligent, strong women on this board!!

I am definitely trying for disability...but waiting until about 4-6 weeks before my IVF cycle. For this IUI, I will take some vacation days.

Somehow I think I am getting a message from the universe, though, to give up my job. Since I started TTC, I have had more stress from particular events at work than ever before. Actual events, e.g. it's not ALL "in my mind"!

The acupuncturist did not do any actual acupuncture, just prescribed some Chinese tea and supplements. I've been taking them, but I guess I should stop now that I am doing injectibles again. My RE does not advise taking "far Eastern remedies" along with the FSH. I think that on my next visit he will probably do acupuncture, although after visiting the site of Julia Indichova (fertileheart.com, I believe) I may try some local acupuncturists recommended there.

I am so glad you had a positive experience at your acupuncturist. It definitely cannot hurt, and the anti-stress benefits ALONE will be of help!

Thanks so much for your positive thoughts and wishes...I am sending mine out to the universe for you!!

All the best,

Lisa
