Did I do the right thing?

So when I started my second IUI cycle, my RE's nurse practioner had said the doctor wanted to just do clomid that cycle, and if it didn't work we would do injectibles this cycle. Well, it didn't work. But the nurse called me today and said the doctor wanted to put that off and check my AMH levels to check my ovarian reserve. Well, I had it checked last year, and it was elevated (11 or 12) but not too terrible, and I'm still ovulating every month, even without clomid, so I feel I have at least a chance, right? So I called back and said I was disappointed, especially since I teach at a small University and we don't get subs for our classes, which basically means I don't really get any maternity leave. So it is pretty important for me to have a due date in the summer, and I really only have this cycle and the next to make that happen. In summary, after some pushing, the doctor agreed to test AMH and do injectibles this cycle, but basically implied if the test results come back bad, its just a big waste of money. I just want to be as aggressive as possible these next 2 cycles. Was I wrong and am I wasting my money?

Whew! Sorry that was sooo long!

Sandy, we have to be in charge of our treatments in this TTC journey because most Drs. can just dismiss us based on age and what it will do to their "success rates" on paper.

Sandy,

I agree with the PP's -- keep in charge of YOUR treatment and make sure you like your team of professionals. it will keep your stress level a bit lower. Try not to second guess your decisions either - you know deep down what's right for you.

Yup, we'll be on the same cycle this go-round. Keep us all posted o your progress!

Good Luck.

I agree w/ the PP's and think you should feel at ease w/ your decision.

Thanks for the encouragement all. I'm finding it hard to remain optimistic, but I figure I should do all that I can do. Let's hope DH remains co-operative this cycle!
